2016 collecting goals

Recommended Posts

Here is what I hope to accomplish this year in regards to my collection:

1. Complete my 1955 Bowman set. This should be pretty easy as I need 4 cards to finish it.

2. Reach 1000 different Tiger autographs. I have 977 different players. This will be harder than it looks as the living players that I need signatures of are tough signers.

3. Knock out some regional cards (1961 Leaf, Post, Greatest Moments, etc) that have been on my Tiger wantlist for years. For example, I need a 1963 Post Bill Bruton which goes for a couple bucks on ebay.

4. Pull the trigger on 1952 Topps high number Hoeft or Hatfield.

YES! After numerous years of trying, I finally picked up 1952 Billy Hoeft! Once I pick up the '52 Hatfield I will have a complete run of Topps Detroit Tigers cards 1952 to current.

Also, I completed my 1955 Bowman set over the summer.

Still haven't reached 1000 different Tiger autographs. I'm currently at 991.

Well, I completed #1 and #4 this past year. Also, I picked up a few regional cards (Glendale Meats, Post and 1962 Ford Detroit Tiger postcard). I didn't reach 1000 different Tiger signatures. Overall, not a bad year in collecting. Let me think a day or two about 2017 collecting goals.

House is almost ready to move in, just waiting on the permit to hook up to the sewer system.  I should post a photo of my baseball card closet, it is chuck full of totes and boxes.  Hope to start unpacking them by mid-late January.  Doing a lot of the work myself, flooring is 80% complete then hang doors interior doors and install a couple of miles of trim.  Then onto my collection, can hardly wait!!
