Jerry Turner was in LF for my first baseball game, back in 1982. Udjur was our SP that day. Orioles crushed us!

My cousin Julie took us there,; I had to peek around a post to see the SS area from our lower deck LF locale.

Ah yes, good times @ the corner. :-)

What's going on with Chuck Cottier's card? Part actual photo, part cartoony artwork, part olden days photoshoppery?

Thinking exactly the same thing - that's Chuck in a Senators' uniform with the D airbrushed on to his hat, and all done in a delightful jade green

Mine was not so great either for Grater.

Lots of obscure Tigers in today's collection. McCurry and Urbani both pitched for the wretched 1996 team, McCurry in only 2 games. He did, however, manage to rack up an impressive 24.30 ERA. I could find no images of Bob Reynolds as a Tiger. Bill Graham is the latest MLB debut in team history - October 2, 1966, in the last game of the season, his only appearance as a Tiger. Willie Ludolph's nickname was "Wee Willie", as evidenced here by his tiny picture. John Mohardt looks like he's struggling to play before the invention of sunglasses. Bernie Boland actually pitched for a few years. Arch McCarthy may be the most interesting...according to Wikipedia, "His career was short, and he only played for six weeks. Nothing is known of Arch McCarthy's life before or after his professional career, and his date of death is unknown."

Leon "Don't call me Bip" Roberts was on that horrifying 1975 team. I still have my game program from my one and only trip to Tiger Stadium, which occurred in 1975 - Leon is in there along with fellow can't-miss prospect Danny Meyer. With those two guys in the outfield we're all set. According to his program bio Leon won the Big 10 100 meters championship...I never really believed that.

Roberts - Leflore - Meyer. Was suppose to be the new Horton -Stanley - Kaline trio for the next 15 years! Roberts and Meyers had a few nice years after leaving the organization.
