Stop it! It was just a brain fart. Us mere mortals have them from time to time. I count about a dozen SEC players the Tigers have drafted in the past 2 years.

No reason to get butt hurt about it.

I'd rather they stand pat than trade for Bruce or Garcia.

Wow, I missed that suggestion -- YIKES! I agree with you, run away! I liked Avasail as a prospect, but as a full-timer he has been absolutely atrocious. And Jay Bruce is not the kind of guy we should be trading for IMHO.

Boy.......we really need some news that will fire up the old "hot stove". The lack of Tiger baseball news makes it seem colder than it really is. Everyone, including me, seems to want the Tigers to sign one of the big name leftfielders. Anyone out there have an idea of who the Tigers could trade for instead? Anyone who the Tigers could steal from another team?

Braves trying to trade Nick Swisher and Michael Bourn

By Aaron GleemanJan 4, 2016, 10:39 AM EST

Back in August the Braves and Indians swapped bad contracts, with outfielders Nick Swisher and Michael Bourn heading to Atlanta and infielder Chris Johnson heading to Cleveland.

Last month the Indians released Johnson, choosing to simply eat the $17 million left on his deal rather than keep him around in a part-time role. And now Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports that the Braves “are trying to trade at least one of” Swisher and Bourn “with the understanding the team would have to eat a significant portion of the salary.”

In other words, the Braves have decided it’s not worth having Swisher and Bourn around as part-time veterans on a team likely to be pretty awful in 2016. However, actually trading them may prove difficult even if Atlanta eats a bunch of money because both Swisher and Bourn have declined significantly in recent years.

Swisher hit just .204 with a .617 OPS in 173 games between 2014 and 2015, and at age 35 he’s owed $15 million. Bourn is owed $14 million, hasn’t topped a .700 OPS since 2012, and no longer makes up for the lack of hitting with great speed or defense. It’s possible the Braves will end up releasing them just as the Indians did with Johnson and swapping them for a different bad contract is also an option.

I'm not saying I want to trade for them. But they are available.

JD for Puig and a good prospect. Sign Upton 6/140

Puig needs to prove he's not a turd. I'm not sure I want my 2016 season to rest on that risk.

I'm fine with Span if we can get him on a cheap 1-year deal for $8-10M.

People, People, We don't need to go get another outfielder. Steven Moya is going to absolutely blow up this year. He's going to be a star. Believe it - because it's the truth.

He choked on vomit. But it wasn't his vomit. They don't know who's vomit it was. You can't dust for vomit.

I'd actually be excited about dirks too if he were healthy. But I'm sure his back is still causing him issues. Plus he's barely seen a pitch in two years...

Edit: I convinced myself I'd no longer be too excited about dirks

So I just read the Edwin Jackson will only cost the signing team the league minimum. Why'd it take so long for someone to gain interest in him? it doesn't seem he's been THAT bad

We don't have room for Edwin Jackson. We already signed a player who will probably be worse than him for 2/$16.

Sorry for the negativity.....but I still can't understand that signing.

Pelfrey's numbers the past 5 years......1.48, 1.99, 1.55, 1.42, 1.47.....now you guess the category? One hint.....that wasn't his ERA.

If the Tigers thought that Edwin was worth a shot I'd be happy with that.

EJ has certainly had a weird career, and he's still not that old.

Nope. Sorry to get your hopes up.

I'll be honest. I started checking the websites and blogs to see if there was anything to this.
