BMC won stage 9 today. American Tejay van Garderen is only 12 seconds from the yellow jersey. An amazing competition for some peeps. Nothing but dopers for other peeps.

I love it.

BTW...

USA! USA! USA!

USA's Womens team won the World Cup...again, this year. What a great dynasty we have with our Womens WC team.

TDF...

Tejay van Garderen with a tough first mountain, still in 2nd place, but lost over 2 minutes to Froome today. Lots of time left. It was just the first mountain stage.

USA men's Gold Cup tied last night. Didn't need a win or a tie to advance. We are 2-0-1 so we advance.

The British Open starts tomorrow. Rory out cuz he hurt his ankle playing soccer...lol. What a dip ****.

Anyway, should be a good event but the weather is supposed to be bad. I like golf. I like to play golf, but nothing more special than seeing pro golfers whine about cold, windy, rainy weather. :)

The Open's 2nd round had so many delays, it looks like the 3rd round will be Sunday and the 4th, if they can get it in, will be Monday? ??? Its all ****ed up.

TDF update: Van Garderen dropped out of 2nd place. Didn't have a good stage. Lost time to Froome, the leader, too. He can still podium, but the 4th place rider is a teammate of Quintana. So they will obviously be teaming up to move the 4th place rider into 3rd. Plus Van Garderen has to fight to not lose any more time to Froome. Lotsa time left.

Gold Cup...USA 6-0 over Cuba. Yeah, Cuba had more defectors but we have to keep the hammer on any opponent.

The Open has been pretty wild. I'm glad I got to see Tom Watson walk up 18. Thanks Tom.

DJ is a beast, and playing well. Spieth doesn't have 5 three putts, he's tied if my math is correct. 2 days left.

Agree on watching Tom Watson. It is a young man's game. Thought ESPN did a little bit of disservice by constantly talking about there being 'no sun'. Who gives a **** if the sun is shinning. I bet the photos will be just fine with him and his son, group he played with, at dusk.

I like DJ. Probably my favorite golfer at the moment. I don't know why I'm not pulling for Spieth the to win this and the GS, but I want DJ to win.

I like the history of the game, and much of it involves St. Andrews (quite a unique course). You can play the course, but not easy. A tip; it's closed on Sunday and turns into a public park. You can walk the course, have a picnic, even take your dog (other than this weekend of course) for free. That would a a can't miss, but a chance to play would be a bucket list thing. I would in a heartbeat.

I played a course down around Ocala Florida that had something like 7 or 8 replica holes from famous course around the world. St. Andrews number 1 and 17 (the Road Hole) were two of them. They were well done. I could play it 10 times and maybe par it once. That bunker is a beast.

Trivia question; how many greens does St. Andrews have (anyone)?

Zack Johnson won after a playoff. If you heard a Johnson won the Open, you'd prolly think Dustin. Zack is a great guy from everything you hear.

Van Garderen is OUT of the TDF. It sounds like he was just plain sick. Rest day yesterday and he 'bonked' last year after a rest day. This was not a bonk, but a true sickness from what they are reporting so far. He was still in place to podium, but he is out.

The first day of four at Tunbridge Wells. Lovely day and a splendid ground.

And some of the quicker form of the game as well:

The sad thing is that despite not knowing anyone involved, I'd be willing to bet at least one parent of each of those kids thought it was merited or served the official right.

I only write that because I sometimes hear jack-wagons talk like that (e.g. someone should rough him up or we'll see how tough that guy is if someone stepped up on him...) when their kid gets penalized.

It is a small percentage of parents (sometimes moms, BTW), but they are out there and the kids are getting that idea from someone.

Horrendous.

This has to be severely punished.

That was a physical assault. Period. Had nothing to do with the game.

He could have been paralyzed for life.

No one should be defending their actions on any level.

My brother in law is in his mid 60s and could work every day if he wanted. He turns down some games in Detroit for this very reason. Refs get threatened.

I hope those refs make up injuries and Sue the bejeezus out of the athletic association or the families.
