9 episodes into Cobra Kai and I am not sure what I expected, but man the fight scenes are SOOO bad.  There are some pretty funny moments in the show "Hey man the AA meeting does not start until 9pm.."

Zabka is killing it with the humor IMO.

It's a fun nostalgia trip for sure. Lots of easter eggs from the movies. Some of it is very "ABC after-school special-ish" in nature but I've enjoyed what I've seen.

Yeah, same here.  We will keep watching until the end.

Anybody watch The Morning Show on AppleTV+?

Steve Carell and Jennifer Aniston. Dives pretty heavy into the MeToo stuff. Some pretty bad soap opera type stuff at times and hopefully they tighten that up in season two. A lot of filler as well. Much sloppier than what a network like HBO would have done with it but considering it's a new network, I think they did about as good as you could expect.

Definitely worth watching.

I stayed away from this at first based on the tepid critical response to it citing the very concerns you expressed. My wife and I have only a slight Venn sliver of shows we can both enjoy, though, so we frequently run out of options we can enjoy together, so I talked her into trying this show with me.

Four episodes in, I can say that, if you don’t expect too much from the show, it’s an enjoyable watch. Yes, there will be scenes that make you say “no way”, but again, if you set your expectations a bit lower than Platinum Age-level, this series will do. The performances are strong in spots, Jennifer Aniston in particular, and I pay more attention when the douchey west coast executive shows up.

I too hope they retool it for season 2 to make it a consistently strong watch.

Man it is getting worse and worse...lol.

The acting is so bad, the fight scenes are so bad....why am I watching this?

Nostalgia obviously, but I honestly just want it to end.  I do not even really care anymore.  It was cute in the beginning, but it has played out its welcome with me.

There are just too many other superbly acted, better story line, shows out there I could be watching right now.

I watched the first ep of KK the other day and the dumb fight he got into with the kids to protect his neighbor was just horribly-shot. Weak, fake kicks... my dog could have directed a better fight scene. Good to know that it doesn't get better. I probably won't watch any more.

Overall the fight scenes are the same.  There are a couple ok ones, but for the most part they are on par with that first scene.

I could see them thinking, save some money and do some lazy fight scenes. It'll have more of that 80's feel to it and fans will love it. If so, they were wrong. That just doesn't translate anymore.

I wonder if it gets better in season 2?

It doesn't. It turns into teenage love stories. It's a fun nostalgia visit and the scenes where Daniel and Johnny get along for brief moments is very amusing. There are still some amusing moments such as when one of the students signs Johnny up for a dating app and Johnny proves himself a total ape.

I have not seen it, but it got great reviews from the critics. There has to be something going on.

Yeah the fight scenes are about the same in season 2 also.  They are SLIGHTLY better, but not by much.  This whole idea had potential, but it just turned weird.  Not EVERYTHING in life needs to be influenced by some weird random thing the way they portray it.  The back and forth, one minute we are buddies, the next I hate you, the cancer patient kicking a$$ then

Spoiler

dying?  lol

It has all just been surreal.  The acting is so damn wooden...if not for the comedic relief with Zabka every once in awhile that does have me laughing I think I would have just moved on.

Not sure if it's racist to say but generally it seems like black people don't visually age as fast as white people....

I was listening to him when he was on Rogan and I literally laughed out loud at a traffic light and the guy next to me looked over.... not to make it political but he was talking about Hannity and Colmes....  he was trying to remember the names.  "The one guy... looks like an astronaut.... the other looks like a dying rooster..."
