From Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan, it is the...

PITTSBURGH PIRATES

versus the

DETROIT TIGERS

ph_434538.jpg

Fransisco Liriano 4-6, 3.21 ERA

Dealing with a losing record despite his 1.01 WHIP and .189 opponents' average, Liriano could find some reward under ideal conditions: ERAs of 2.30 ERA on the road and 2.25 in daylight, balanced by the 5-10 record vs. Tigers.

Kyle Ryan 1-1 4.56 ERA

Ryan was supposed to pitch Saturday until a rainout and Justin Verlander's return forced the Tigers to push back his start. The lefty has started three games this year, but his last outing was 12 pitches in relief on June 24.

@anthonyfenech: Clint Hurdle called James McCann "one of the best young catchers in the game from my perspective" this morning.

If Ryan doesn't have a good game, I think it's time for all hands on deck.

Ryan to the bullpen as a LH specialist, Farmer from Toledo to the rotation until we can trade for someone, Knudson from Toledo to the bullpen because he's the only one with decent numbers and can't be worse than Joba. Joba and Gorzo cut because nobody can be worse than them. Move Greene to the bullpen in Toledo and see if that helps him any.

Josh Wilson cut, Jefry Marte up so when the 25th man comes in it doesn't mean we're going to lose or have already lost.

I think we could see a donnybrook today................

No reason for a donnybrook over a thread title error. Sheesh, calm down, people.

This reminds me of former NBA player Xavier McDaniel. His nickname was X-Man. X-Man. That's a solid nickname.

Hey, listen to that, a 5-4-3 double play.

Ryan has a no hitter going.

Dammit, Shelton, you are not supposed to speak of it while it is still happening. You forgot the rules.

Bunting for a base hit while a no hitter is going on should result in an automatic out or a kick to the groin. Opposing team's choice.
