I said it when Nill left that Holland should have slid into a different role within the organization, Team President or something, and moved Nill to GM. Oh, yeah #19, him too.

I'm hoping the Lightning win the Cup this year so that Yzerman feels mission accomplished down there and Illitch lures him and Stamkos up to Detroit next summer in time for the new arena. Kenny could take Jimmy D's position.

Irrational as it is, I already hate him and hope he has 0 success the rest of his career.

Thing is.... If he is successful there then he becomes a legend like Toe Blake and Scotty. They'd build a statue of him. Its a chance a Canadian has to take. Coaching Toronto is an entirely different thing.

Hey, they offered big contracts to big players, but they got turned down. It's not like he didn't try......

I still can't believe how stupid Suter and Parise were. They went to a rinky-dink owner/organization with no history of winning, and those and the Red Wings have been paying the price of mediocrity since.

Can't overcome others stupidity.

Yeah...even if he stayed here another 6-7 years and won another cup he would not be as loved here as he would be there if he brings them one in the next 10 years.

There is risk too.... Shanahan is unproven. He didnt spend time like Yzerman did under Holland. If they dont hire the right player personnel people in 4 years shanny/Babcock becomes a punchline.

Babcock has no chance of succeeding in Toronto imo. No talent in that organisation at all, especially at centre and defence.

that's why he got an 8 year contract. I don't think they're kidding themselves. They know it's uphill.

His comments about challenging yourself and how he tells his kids to do that.... it makes sense. Staying would have been the comfortable and safe move. If he wins in Toronto he'll get a state funeral one day.

Yeah, I read Tony was still interested in returning despite declining his option. I didn't realize Tony was Landon's step-uncle but it is true.

I am hearing very strong rumors that it's going to be Jeff Blashill.
