2015 Pistons Off-Season

Also, don't see Chandler Parsons up on that list, further proof that Morey understood what his team needed which wasn't a soft diva with a finesse game. He said all the right things about Parsons, but at the end of the day, he chose future cap flexibility over him. Which says he didn't view Parsons as a core member of his team and wanted to keep his eyes open for a chance to snag a better player in the future even if that better player's identity isn't even known yet. He'll take that unknown over Parsons on a 3/45 deal. It's just too bad he can't find the right years to roster Ariza.

Morey had his analytic friendly star and then went and got a bunch of broke shot thugs who can bang to support him and Dwight. Where are the Morey had the worst offseason ever and has clearly lost his way critics now? Morey gets it, he gets the stats but also understands stats in CONTEXT.

Well, that list is just this years free agents. Parsons finished at 2.43 for the year.

It was hilarious how much people tried to rip Morey this offseason. Ariza actually turned his season around decently by the end and his defense was key for them. Having Parsons/Harden as your wing defenders is pretty tough.

Houston was lucky to draw Dallas. I don't think they have a shot against anyone left in the West. They do against Portland if they can somehow pull off a miracle.

I agree with this though too. They need to find a PG and losing Beverly didn't help

Not so sure. If Smith and Howard can keep playing off each other, you never know.

Part of me does think Middleton could become Klay Thompson

Well, there were some evaluators who liked him enough to compare him to Durant coming out of HS. That was before a knee injury, so Thompson wouldn't be a pipe dream.

Speaking of Matthews, I'll be watching his recovery as I watch Jennings'.

Poor guy. Interested to see how this impact him in free agency this summer.

It's really too bad about Matthews. I was targeting him earlier in the season, but now I don't know about gambling on that injury. It was interesting the amount of talk at the end of the game yesterday about Aldridge's future with the Blazers. The commentators during the game as well as Shaq after the game didn't seem to think he'd be back with Portland next year. I don't think we'd have a chance, but I'd love him as a replacement for Greg in Stan's system.

Carroll seems to be breaking out as well and could be a solid option at SF once the big names come off the board. Atlanta looks decent from a cap perspective, but It'll be interesting to see if they can manage to hang on to both him and Milsap this offseason.

Some good and bad news for anyone that wants Carroll and/or Millsap.

The good. The Hawks do not have full Bird rights for either player. All they have are their early Bird rights. They can still go over the cap to sign them, but its not unlimited like full Bird. If they go over the cap so sign one of them, all they can offer is 175% of this years salary.

The Bad. The Hawks appear to have about $20M in cap space this summer.

Hope they sign Millsap to a big deal, something like $15M per. Then the most they could offer Carroll is the remaining $5M in cap space. His salary this year was $2.5M to 175% is about $4.4M so they would offer the cap space since its bigger.

Don't think we can attract the top 6 PFs on that list. Allen is nothing special and I don't want JJ or Hansbrough. That just leaves Moose...

Best way to replace Moose may end up being through the draft/trades.

Depends who signs first. If Millsap signs first and its big, Carroll probably leaves.

If Carroll signs first, lets say for $10M they would have $10M in space left. Probably not enough to sign Millsap, so they would have to go over the cap for him. So they can give him 175% of his salary this year. His salary is $9.5M so they could give him $16.6M. I think that probably keeps him.

Oh ya, I didn't think of that for some reason. Very curious to see what Carroll gets. He's having a very nice postseason right now when other Hawks are struggling a bit.

I think he can become a little better version of Wesley Matthews.

I think he's already that arguably, but I won't quibble a ton with this either.

It just seems like Matthews is better with the ball in his hands and Middleton is better at catch-and-shoot. Matthews will have to recalibrate after his injury, though, as it will rob him of some quicks.

Rumor is Aflallo is going to opt outta his contract.

Would love to sign him to push KCP, maybe even start in front of him for a bit. Would rather have him as 1st option to back up KCP over Meeks.

Although, I assume he's hunting a starting spot somewhere...

Anyone here interested in getting him?

Possible? Or difficult? (to sign him...)
