2015 Draft thread

Recommended Posts

Predicting the pick, even though I am on edge about them going with Perriman, I think they'll end up taking Melvin Gordon or D.J. Humpries. Mayhew has a history of going strictly BPA and drafting project players who don't contribute in year one and that scares me into thinking they may pick Perriman. However, I think that both Gordon and Humphries could be high enough on their BPA list that they pass on Perriman.

Trying to catch up on the draft but I say no to Perriman.

I've been wanting a stellar Oline for decades. So depending how the draft falls Im going with OL as top priority. CB next, DT then RB. Not sure if players will be there with appropriate value though.

Just my 2 cents.

That's my biggest concern with Humphries - he has no fall back position. He's a left tackle or he's not in the league.

4.2 at 6'2" - yes please.

If you pick Perriman than why did you pick Ebron last year? Isn't Ebron the #3 wideout? The stud whose not really a tight end's tight end, isn't that Ebron? Jimmy Graham Jr.?

At some point, you have to address the rest of your team before constantly trying to add weapons around Matt Stafford, unless all you ever want to be is "The Greatest Show On Turf 2.0"; which the Lions may well want to emulate.

I think Humphries would be fine at LG.

Then I don't think you really know who DJ Humphries is. He played last year in the 280's, requires a crazy diet to stay in the low 300s and his entire skill set is based on athleticism. He's closer to a tight end than a guard.

Ebron is the number 1 tight end and Calvin may not be here in 2016. I love Ebron, but I don't want him returning kicks.

Since Ebron was brought up' date=' he would have been a top 10 pick in this class too.[/quote']

Going to whom? Interesting opinion, but definitely not a fact.

IMO, the only reason Ebron was a top 10 pick was because of the Lions. I highly doubt if we dropped the Lions down to, say, 23 (and move everyone else up one spot) last year that Ebron would have gone #10. Maybe, MAYBE he goes #12 to the Giants, but IIRC the Giants were targeting a WR to replace Nicks, Donaldson, or Martin...lucky for them the hit big on Beckham Jr. and I'm sure they thank their lucky stars they didn't end up with Ebron. Ebron last year was listed as a very talented prospect but I don't recall him being mocked as a top 10...he was in the 15-25 range.

I know who he is.

And if he's not ready this year to push Reiff outta the LT spot, and our other RT candidates are up to the task of playing RT, then there is nothing wrong with playing him 1 year at LG.

Most of the draft experts, and this includes some team front office types, have commented that Humphries has a frame that can carry additional weight, over & above the 307 he weighed at the combine. In an NFL weight program, and I don't care that he's on a crazy diet to get to that weight since there are a LOT of linemen in the NFL who are required to do that, as documented elsewhere, he gets to what... 315/320-ish?

He has crazy athletic feet - great for LT - but also crazy active hands. He just doesn't use his hands correctly, which will be corrected in the NFL (or at least should be). So he still has to beat out Reiff for the LT spot. But if he's not ready this year, I would have no problem having him play LG for a year while he gets used to the NFL. He'll be great in pass protection, and so-so in run blocking. The experience will be good for him, IMO.

La'el Collins would be a better fit in having him play LG before switching later to a Tackle position... but that situation is up in the air at the moment...

I think DJ will be fine there for a year.

I think we'll take a WR in the first 3 rounds.

Would love lockett in round 3.

Haven't been following enuf for a name but knowing Mayhew it will be a RB or OL or WR. Something on the offensive side of the ball. His tenure as a GM is tied to Stafford IMO and he will do whatever to make successful.

I think Brown also. If Gordon somehow falls to 23 then him.

I think if Gurley falls, yes.

But if it's Gordon, I think they trade down.

Yeah, now that Gurley got medical clearance, I think he goes top 15 maybe even top 10.

I hope that Gordon is gone so that Mayhew doesn't have the option to take the top skilled position player on the board although I gotta say that I'm getting more intrigued by Gurley if he miraculously falls that far. The skillset is undeniable even if it isn't at the biggest position of need, Nastradamus wore me down

Otherwise, I'd be happy with Brown, Humphries or Peat. Build the lines please.
