2015 Offseason

This is probably way to soon, but how do you think Mayhew will handle Calvin Johnson retiring? Does Mayhew have an exit strategy for him?

It has to be tough cuz CJs production will drop and so should his pay, but if Mayhew wants too big of a cut and insults CJ, fans will be critical.

Too soon to discuss?

Norman always gives me hope about the lions. I appreciate that. Especially after 42 years of watching them suck.

Keep hope alive, my brother!

Exactly! Our dead money is clearly a sign we're on the right track ;-)

I really appreciate that. And appreciate you making me work to defend my optimism.

But was the limo a Ford?

I think it was a Pinto and the driver was Stafford so we know they are really serious.

Unfortunately they ended up in Dearborn instead of Allen Park, cause you know Stafford accuracy is suspect.

There is a clutch joke in here somewhere.

Or throwing into traffic. Something like that.

The last few days I've been really following twitter under the simple search of Detroit Lions. And good God some people are stupid. Talking about how the Lion are going to be horrible because they haven't signed anyone yet etc... It cracks me up. A couple years ago the Buccaneers spent a bunch of money in the first two days on big name free agents. Now I don't even know if any of them are still on the team. Same with the Dolphins a couple years ago. Would I have liked a guy like Browner, or Odrick, or Iupati? Sure but I would rather get value for talent later. And omg all the people saying we need to sign guys like Harvin, or Trent Richardson do these people watch any football other than Lions games?

Oh and one last thing before Suh agreed on a deal I read a tweet from a colts fan saying and I quote "I hope we sign Suh, our offensive line is horrible and he will help out a lot"

Lions signed Tyrunn Walker

ESPN NFL Restricted free agent spotlight: DL Tyrunn Walker

He played in all 16 games for the first time last season, averaging 18 snaps per game, and finished with career highs of 19 tackles, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble.

Walker had a sneaky-good grade last year according to Pro Football Focus (ranking 21st among 81 eligible defensive tackles). He popped up on my film studies with a handful of big plays throughout the year, including a sack-fumble against San Francisco, helping to force Junior Galette’s sack-fumble at Carolina and helping to set the tone early with a good pass rush push at Pittsburgh.

I wouldn't project a major breakthrough or a full-time starting gig in Walker’s near future. He’s been more decent than dynamic, and the Saints’ pass rush went quiet far too often last year even when he was on the field. However, Walker is still a young player who has shown improvement each year so far -- a good trajectory to be on.

Pro Football Focus ‏@PFF 1m1 minute ago

New Lion Tyrunn Walker had a Pass Rushing Productivity of 7.3. That was the 17th best of 72 qualifying defensive/nose tackles.

Alex Reno ‏@alex_reno 7m7 minutes ago

Tyrunn Walker had a +8.0 PFF Grade on 306 snaps. 2nd highest among all #Saints D-linemen.

On the surface, seems like a pretty smart grab by us. The type of guy that Austin could get playing at a higher level ?

Has there been anymore movement on the Jake Long subject? Was he ever hosted for an official visit, because I saw nothing stating he has been yet.

Not Austin, Washburn and Kocurek. We have the best defensive line staff in the league.
