GDT: Penn State at Michigan 10/11/2014

BS call. That should have been penn state ball.

It was a horrible call.

We should all be talking about how much of an idiot Jeremy Clark is for sticking his hand out to touch that ball.

Unbiased opinion?

Yes, it is an ubiased opinion. I didn't care who won that game, that call was terrible. After watching it a few times and seeing screen grabs I don't even see an argument that it was not a bad call.

I think it was a close call.

That being said, the above screen grab is a terrible angle to make a determination.

I saw one view that appeared to be close to along the line, and the guy's head seemed to be right in line with the ball as it was kicked.

expect thats a horrible angle, look down the line like linesmen and you'll see that james helmet is on the line

That's the angle I saw, and it looks much more definitive that he was offside the more a look at it.

Draw a vertical line from 20 from between the top of the 2 and the 0. That's what the linesman saw and the player's head is past the vertical line.

Yeah, judging from that 2nd camera angle and SOHCAHTOA I think his helmet is off-sides by half a foot or so.

Very lucky for M either way tho as that guy didn't make a difference in the play IIRC.

I agree he probably didn't make a difference in the play by being offside. Michigan just made a bad play on that ball. So they were lucky that osu shot themselves in the foot.

At the same time, they were stupid to even put themselves in that position. Even in the unlikely event they recovered the kick, they had to drive 70 yards for a touchdown.

If they would have just punted the ball quickly after the sack, they would have likely gotten the ball back with over a minute left, and would only have had to drive far enough to kick a field goal.

I would love to hear from Franklin what was going through their head after the sack.
