Max Scherzer 15-5, 3.26 ERA

Scherzer struck out 11 White Sox over 6 2/3 innings on Saturday, but paid for a four-batter, four-run stretch in the third inning. Now, he faces a Cleveland club that's batting .308 (24-for-78) in three meetings with him this year.

Trevor Bauer 5-7 3.99 ERA

Bauer logged his second straight scoreless outing Saturday, marking the first time he's not allowed a run in back-to-back starts in his career. He lasted 5 2/3 innings of the Indians' 3-2 extra-inning win.

KC is off today and then plays in New York this weekend. Outside of our two series against them, this is our last best chance to close the gap. Not that they won't lose other games, but I expect them to keep winning the series they are supposed to.

Please win. K thanks.

The tigers are on Sunday night baseball this week against the giants.

I think lobstein is pitching.

Doesn't it seem like the tigers always end up with their fifth starter or minor league call up pitching on Sunday night baseball?

If I remember correctly, the last time they were on was right after all star rosters were announced and everyone was talking about Porcello and his snub/final vote candidacy.

He laid an egg.

IIRC, Jordan Tata made his first MLB start on a ESPN broadcast game.

Virgil Vazquez did against the twins in 2007. Torii hunter drove in 7 runs that night.

Something else awesome that I noticed.

In the six remaining games against the royals, price won't pitch if they keep the current rotation, and there are no off days that would allow them to bump guys up.

What they could do is have lobstein move ahead of price and pitch on 9-12 and have price pitch on 9-13. Then price would be in line to pitch against the royals on 9-19.

It seems weird to be bumping price back a day, but I think it makes sense to do it if you can have him start against KC.

Price pitching the 19th would make it so he couldn't start the final reg season game on full rest. That could be an important game obviously. But he could always pitch on short rest.

He got rocked pretty good last night before getting pulled.

Well, of course. He was throwing it right down the middle.

Ausmus said he wanted McCann to get to know the pitchers better before starting.... I guess that means bookwork? I undertand it does take some studying but...

Would it kill you to include the dates on which the home runs were hit? How about some fielding numbers?

We do normally seem to get screwed with terrible matchups on Sunday Night Baseball. Ironically, the Sunday Night game I remember from this year was when we lost 1-0 at home....to David Price. If we miss the playoffs by one game.....ugh.
