08/06/2014: Detroit Tigers (Verlander) at New York Yankees (Capuano) -7:05p

He battled pretty well and just missed lining up a couple fastballs. Good AB.

he's has had a lot of 'good ABs' recently, but he has to start converting some of them into more than pitch count for the opposing pitcher. He really is not showing much if any improvement month to month. He's pretty much pinned at an OPS between 700-740. Not really enough from a 3rd baseman.

I agree. Very disappointing.

I like the talk about losing Jackson when his replacement has two hits today.

Although we didn't get Carrera for Jackson - we could as easily have had them playing together at some point if JD continues to tail off badly.

We'll see how things play out, but it not hard to envision this offense struggling the rest of the way.

He was a 790 OPS hitter at Toledo so low 700's seems reasonable at the big league level.

Why don't we wait for Carerra to have more hits for Detroit than DFA's in his career before we tout him as Jackson's replacement

Jackson hasn't exactly been good in Seattle so far. Looks like he is back to bad Jackson.

I want to see what happened at first base. Did Hardy not hustle to cover the bag?

He thought kinsler was going to cover.

He was a hitter that had been showing the ability to improve at each level as he moved up. He still clearly has a lot of upside, but with Suarez and JD Marinez slowing down it would nice to see more of it - like NOW!

If we can't expect more than low 700s from him at some point he is going to be sub replacement level based on his defensive ability

Jim said Hardy broke in to back up home plate. Mental mistake, His primary task remains 1st base on a ball hit to the right.

Especially b/c he's abysmal defensively. A pretty textbook replacement level player at this point in his career until he really improves his hitting.

True about the defense point. Castellanos and Davis may have the weakest combination of arms we have seen on the left side in a long time
