Jeez.  Idiocy.

How do people like that get elected?

But remember, don't vaccinate them and don't expect these same people who want you to keep breeding to assist with medical, education, food etc.

Strangely they won't go on the record voting for something they supposedly support.

Great thought for this thread.

Want to bet the percentage of Warmers vs Skeptics among Anti-Vaxxers?    I'll bet it's 90% warmists.

Going to disagree with this. I know some anti-vaxxers and they definitely lean on the conservative conspiracy theory side.

Warming creates more precipitation of all kinds because it's the total heat in the atmosphere and oceans that drives the evaporation of water from the earth - thus a hotter planet is a rainier (and thus in some places snowier) planet. In addition, one of the things that happens as total energy goes up is that the mixing rate in the different bands of the atmosphere increases. Thus you will get more events like the polar vortex where arctic air comes down and mixes in the temperate zones, giving the local experiences of cold. However taken overall, the effect on the arctic from warmer air being forced there by the shift  when that cold air is pushed south, is a more severe effect for ice melting.  You simply can't judge planetary effects by *your* local weather. That's why the people who study this field don't look at weather reports, they look at planetary data sets. More snow in Greenland driven by higher overall atmospheric energy, can certainly produce a local effect of growth in a *particular* glacier. That is only a contradiction if you have no understanding of the overall system. Overall glaciers are shrinking all over the planet.

I love how now it creates more precipitation when a few years ago the Great Lakes were drying up because of Warming.   Now they're at historic highs - because of Warming.   No matter what happens it's always Warming that causes it.   Hilarious, in that each time the outcome changes the explanation and "science" changes to fit the outcome.   It does make it so it's no lose argument for the Warmists..

So when global temperatures fall is that because of Warming?   And no I'm not buying the goal post move of "climate change".   NO ONE argues that the the climate isn't changing, always has, always will.   The argument is whether global warming is the cause of every change in the climate.

How about those poor Polar Bears?   Are they dying out still because of habitat loss and Warming?   Tell me about the science there?  EVERY SINGLE PREDICTION of disaster made by Gore and other starting in the 80s has been wrong and yet everyone treats them as infallible oracles of knowledge.   Many of them just "happened" to get rich spreading this nonsense.

If this were baseball you would have pitched them as prognosticators years ago, if they were conservatives you'd be po'd they had gotten rich selling snake oil to fools.   But since it's liberal politics all is forgiven and forgotten and their latest tripe is taken seriously.

I'd love to see a survey but I'd be willing to wager I'm right.

I'd have said 75% sceptic actually. I associate both with loonspuddery.

Well, the positive is that he did violate the Hastert rule!

None of this is argument - it's simply random polemics. Respected climatologists do not make local weather predictions so nothing above is relevant to anything. I'd also like to see any evidence that a serious climatologist said the Lakes levels were falling because of climate change. Again - no climatologist would make a specific local long term weather forecast or interpretation. In point of fact I have spent a good deal of time with a commercial boat operator on Lake Superior and the fact is that the primary argument about GL levels in this generation has been about the effects of man made changes to the topology of the St. Mary's channel and whether they had increased flows into the lower lakes.

But here is one that is very easy and cuts past all the arguments the deniers like to make while looking out their front windows to what they mistake for the wide world  - you can go down to the seashore and look at the markers and check the history for yourself:

Quote

Global sea level has been rising over the past century, and the rate has increased in recent decades. In 2014, global sea level was 2.6 inches above the 1993 average—the highest annual average in the satellite record (1993-present). Sea level continues to rise at a rate of about one-eighth of an inch per year.

Where do you suppose that water is coming from?

My brother in law grew up on Smith Island, Md. His family harvested crabs. Most of the Island in the Chesapeake Bay is underwater, only a few residents left. You can sa6 the same about nearby Tangier Island in Virginia

This thread is a prime example of how humanity is likely best served by suffering the consequences of the alterations it has made to the Earth and its climate.

More lies.

Attenborough’s tragedy porn of walruses plunging to their deaths because of climate change is contrived nonsense

A recent Netflix ‘Our Planet’ program with David Attenborough delivering a disturbing message of doom about walruses falling off a cliff to their deaths because of climate change is contrived nonsense on par with the bogus National Geographic starving polar bear video of 2017.  The walruses shown in this Netflix film were almost certainly driven over the cliff by polar bears during a well-publicized incident in 2017, not because they were “confused by a combination of shrinking ice cover and their own poor eyesight“.

=========

UPDATE 8 April 2019: Falling off cliffs is not a new phenomenon. Here is video of US Fish and Wildlife officials in 1994 trying to explain a situation where walruses are falling even without the impetus from polar bears, at Cape Pierce in the southern Bering Sea (a haulout for adult males during the ice-free season). Explanation? Overcrowding (too many walruses)! h/t to Mark Sullivan.

Still, a demonstration by Nature on the downside of overpopulation shouldn't be lost of HomoSapiens either.

I remember when Global Warming was causing the Great Lakes to evaporate.  Now just as Warming causes cold, snowy winters it must cause the lake levels to rise to record levels!!  That warming stuff is just an ongoing  miracle!

Great Lakes water levels surge, some record highs predicted

The Corps’ Detroit district office says levels on Lake Superior and Lake Erie are expected to break records set decades ago.

Records are not predicted for Lakes Michigan, Huron and Ontario, but they’re still expected to rise significantly.

/..sigh./

Straw man so very full of straw.

Read your own link. Article make no claim about global warming at all.

What is the basis for the reluctance to believe man's activities can and have impacted the overall global average temperature?

Honest question.

I know you are  mocking this, and while the consequences could be catastrophic long term, I just want to point out that not all unintended consequences are negative.  An extra warm day or two in the winter for our friends up north, for example.
