2016 Presidential Election - Who will the nominees be? Make your prediction here.

Fox criticism is a joke.

Like Ailes, Hume others have said...They decided to be fair about the news. They decided to bring both sides to the debate, unlike Libs. And then they started climbing in the ratings. Then they started winning ratings.

They thought their lead in viewership was perishable and the laughable MSNBC and CNN would change. And they did change, they double down on more liberal crap.

MSNBC is a joke and their viewership shows it. CNN at least has a couple of good attempts at being a balanced news org, but still failed.

I feel for these young kids who go to college and get brainwashed by liberal academia.

So, you are saying that there is a correlation between being well educated and liberal? Who'd have thunk it? :-)

I realize that.

I'm talking about a mod that associates Trump with Hitler. I really don't care to hear or read what she has to say after that.

If it would make you feel better, I just saw something comparing God to Hitler, I could post that and you could extend the logic to compare Trump to God.

I know how much anger exists on the right, and it's the GOP's big problem, because they have a bunch of voters mad as hell and trying like crazy to drive the bus, but they don't represent numbers sufficient to elect anyone in a general election. And that is primarily the legacy of Limbaugh and Ailes and Co. For 20 years they have been stoking the fires of discontent on the right, but when the fire stopped getting bigger they made the mistake (well, not for them - but for the GOP) of just settling for making it hotter. Good for Cable and radio ratings, not so good for electoral politics.

Or maybe it is as simple as voters believing in someone and their platform is a much more powerful motivator in garnering votes than being angry at the status quo.

I feel for people whose political analyses and points seem to be one-off one-liners with no substance behind them.

I don't remember Clinton ever having a good come back to an Obama swipe. Trump hits below the belt. So is Sanders jelly spined or civil? I suspect he is civil and might not be prepared for Trump. Regardless, everyone of the Republicans excepting Cruz, have responded to Trump. I'm not sure what you want them to do.

A good comeback? That's what matters here? I honestly think that's really unimportant.

She attacked Obama. You may not have found it snappy or witty, but she attacked him. A lot. That's a helluva lot more than these jelly spines are doing with Trump. "Responded" to Trump? Actually, they're all the ones with the balls in their court. They "attack", and he counters with personal attacks & meaningless nonsense, and they all scurry away. They all owe him a response.

Again, I don't know about Bernie. However, his political calculus is much different than anyone in the GOP primary.

That's what Bill was for.....

There was one incident where Obama took a shot at Bill by saying he wasn't as transformative of a President, as say a Ronald Reagan was, the point being that Bill wasn't a Democratic equivalent but rather just a guy there at the time. He did that on purpose beacuse he knew Bill would respond in an overboard way. Then when he did, Obama referenced it in a debate, Hillary snapped 'I'm running for President, he isn't" and right on cue Obama says "I can't tell who I'm running against sometimes".... that line was prepared and Hillary was completely set up for it.

Watch from the 4 minute mark specifically.... gold.

Post-debate, Trump Pulls Clear of Competition - CNNPolitics.com

The survey finds Trump with the support of 24% of Republican registered voters. His nearest competitor, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, stands 11 points behind at 13%. Just behind Bush, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson has 9%, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker 8%, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul 6%, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, former tech CEO Carly Fiorina and Ohio Gov. John Kasich all land at 5%, with former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee rounding out the top 10 at 4%.

Trump is the biggest gainer in the poll, up 6 points since July according to the first nationwide CNN/ORC poll since the top candidates debated in Cleveland on Aug. 6. Carson gained 5 points and Fiorina 4 points. Trump has also boosted his favorability numbers among Republicans, 58% have a favorable view of Trump now, that figure stood at 50% in the July survey.

These nationwide findings follow recent polling in Iowa and New Hampshire showing Trump also leads the Republican field in those two key early states.

Technically she did not. She linked an article about voter behaviors that gave Germany/Hitler as an example.

Indeed. But that is just the conservative media movement reaping the very same whirlwind they have been sowing for a long time.

And I would not argue that the left has not tried to mirror Fox - obviously MSNBC being the case in point, but it hasn't worked the same way. The target demographics at MSNBC are just not as interested in being mad about politics as the target demo on the right. The more 'Angry' liberals like Ed Schultz have not found wide audience. In fact on the left its the satirists like John Stewart that have the movement's pulse and ear. There are probably a thousand interesting and complex sociological reasons why that is true, but it is what it is. EDIT: also why I think an "angry guy" like Bernie is going to have a hard time expanding his base enough......

Ailes started FXN with a mission, which was to help empower conservatives in American politics. This is not anything controversial to say, he had said it openly. It's not a secret, and that is fine, it is his 1st amendment right. But somewhere along the line, either in the competition with the most strident voices for ratings, or just momentum, he ended up contributing in a big way to the creation of the Donald, and now the GOP establishment, which is where Ailes comes from, is not happy about it. To the degree that Ailes were to try to use Fox to tamp down the fervor, it is exactly going to cost him more people/viewers thinking Fox 'is part of the problem'. I guess he is just now more a slave to his ratings than to his original ideology, otherwise I wouldn't have imagined him throwing a prized understudy like Megyn Kelly under the bus to the extent of personally pleading with Trump last week not to embargo Fox.

I don't watch Fox News with any regularity except for Baier. Is having another another view sewing the seeds of disenchantment? Do Univision and BET do this? Would Ailes even have had an opening if millions of Americans had been satisfied that their view was adequately represented by the so called mainstream media?

I think you are pointing at the wrong source for the anger that exists and would have existed with or without Fox News. The split is in the Republican party which began with Bush and immigration reform, grew with TARP, grew further when according to the likes of Limbaugh 4-5 million voters stayed home rather than vote for Romney and exploded when Congressional Republicans did nothing to turn back Obama.

She attacked him personally? Because until a few days ago that was all Trump was offering.

Was he suggesting the source of the anger was Fox News?

I thought he was suggesting that they nurtured and spread it.

That written, I must confess to not reading his entire premise carefully on the point.

I'd love to hear someone talk about actually giving rights to the American citizens in US territories. I have always thought that it was terrible the way they have been treated.

It was my impression that he said FNC sewed the seeds. I think it misses the underlying political and economic issues that are the real oxygen.

I knew you'd chime in at some point.

Why wouldn't I?

You basically parrot one line sound-bytes that don't further the discussion and misrepresent what others write.

I find it tiresome. So I comment.
