So I googled, found this:

very very rough numbers, decrease the population by 10%, that would be 3.9b per year approximately (for 40 states, not 50). Is the prison spending growing at more than 3.9b per year?

Offset by the increased costs of crime by having those thugs on the street.

I think he means to have those criminals vaporized...at least thats what I'd do.

I see what you mean. I think he cares even less about his supporters and the country than the typical politician and everything he does is done is to boost his massive ego. However, he is a businessman who knows what people want to hear and knows how to get through to them. I guess I could see him winning given how weak the field is. It's just hard to believe the republicans are going to let him win when there are so many demographic groups that won't vote for him.
Perhaps this will result in the end of open primaries ? Or any primaries really. GOP may decide on a caucus only system in the future, maybe?

So Palin endorsed Trump. She gave a speech, people slobbered. That should just about rap it up for The Donald, no?

You really can't make this **** up.

So when they get rid of The Donald, will this finally get rid of her too?

I am assuming the prison system has a budget and doesn't put in a requisition for more money when they take in a prisoner. I suspect that if we did reduce the prison population, they would still request the same money (or more) despite the decrease in prisoners, and regardless of what President Sanders wanted, friendly congressmen would jam it into a budget bill and make sure it happened.

Anyone arguing against it would be said to be 'soft on crime' or in the event they were a democrat 'a supporter of inhumane conditions in our prisons'

Maybe I'm being overly cynical, but it's very hard for me to imagine that spending would actually go down dramatically. This never seems to happen in any program.

Also, there is no way Sarah Palin wasn't drunk or high when she gave that speech. She's like a parody of herself in it, completely rambling, losing her train of thought, speaking in a weird tone of voice. Maybe she had to knock back a few to get the bitter taste of endorsing Donald Trump out of her mouth

I think that the answer to part of this is campaign finance reform. I want to hope that once politicians are not bought and paid for that things could be done somewhat sensibly.

Maybe it was Tina Fey trolling all of us?

How about we cut defense spending?

We should cut spending on roads too

Do we already spend more on our roads than the next 10 countries combined?

Our roads aren't the final guarantee of collective security for the international order.

Are you going to make the argument that we need to spend that much more than everyone else (combined) to be secure?

How about we cut defense spending?

That would be great, but I tend to think it's equally possible at this point sadly.

And amazingly enough this healthcare plan would actually cost more than our defense spending

We need to spend that which provides us with a decisively bigger stick to use against the bad dogs. You know how asymmetry works. We can't teleport the aircraft carrier to Japan to cover North Korea acting the fool and then teleport it to the Eastern Med to show force on ISIS and then back to the Persian Gulf to ensure the Mullahs don't go to war with the Saudis. A death beam from space maybe...I'm willing to consider that.

What if its the stick that is creating the bad dogs?

Should we attempt to be the world's policeman?

Honest question.
