Led Zeppelin being sued

Page Coverdale was a joke... sorry for saying that.

I like hearing the musicians in this thread comment. Mentioning things that are beyond my knowledge. Zep is my favorite. By far. whatt I like is it was a natural thing... a buddy gave me a tape of LZII and I started listening and was hooked. Wasn't seeking anything out.

And yes JPJ was a real talent and Page has said that. "He didn't need us...." Robert Plant doesn't like him and I think it's due to insecurity. I don't really like Plant, he's a jerk. He's jealous of JPJ. Kind of like a thing where he feels the need to put him in his place but deep down knows Jonesy couldn't give a **** what Plant thinks about him.

Best songs to me are Since I've been Loving You and Ten Years Gone.

I would bet real money those who hated Coverdale Pages one album are anywhere from 10-20 years older than me...I say that because the teenage years are when good memories start...out of high school or about to be, free to explore the world etc. etc.

I was 16 when Coverdale Page released that tape and listened to it a lot. Those 10-20 years older listened to Zeppelin (as did I...having 4 older brothers, but I was younger...5 or 6 or so during the real hey day/break up of Zep) and found the Coverdale Page thing almost sacrilegious because there was still chance for a reunion of sorts.

For the record....I am a HUGE fan of Zep, have all the tapes (YES tapes) and CD's of all the recordings and listen to them a lot. I have a Zep channel on Pandora and have plenty of Zep on my phone.

I just also happen to like the Coverdale Page stuff as well.

Every time I bring this up it is met with scorn, but a friend and I used to jam Coverdale Page back in the day all the time. We loved it. Heading out to play pool at the local hall and jamming the tape in my buddies car.

People usually hate it. We loved that tape.

I don't think Oblong or Biff are 10 - 20 years older than you, so I think you would lose that bet.

Oblong might not be but it is conceivable that I am in that range.

I think Zep fans don't like Coverdale b/c he was widely considered a huge Plant wanna-be.

I was like 20 when Coverdale/Page teamed up. I'll admit to buyig the CD but after a few listens I realized how cheesy it was.... Page was pissed at Plant and he did that. Then they teamed up later that year and did a couple of tours. THey weren't Zeppelin tours even though 90% of the songs were Zeppelin and there was a big Zeppelin Trailer/museum in the parking lot.

I'm just busting your balls.

It's not so hard to understand the difference in their desire to bring back LZ, I think. Page is an instrumentalist. His Gibson will play all the riffs today it did in 72. The voice and persona that Plant had when he performed those songs is gone forever and he doesn't want to be Mick Jagger.

I know. It is hard to imagine one of your favorite bands around that special teenage years time of someones life breaking up and trying a different member in the band. It usually screws things up. Like Motley Crue who tried it without Vince Neil....that all blew IMO because Crue was extremely popular when I was 13 or so. I listened to that music a ton back then. Teenage kids tend to listen to and LOVE music more and it is a time in your life when you are extremely impressionable. Those things usually take root in a person. STP and Pearl Jam were some of my favorite bands back then. I still have not heard any of the post 2002 STP stuff because I always thought Weiland was a brilliant song writer and liked the way he sang.

That's all I was getting at really.

I figured you were only a couple of years older than myself and Mr. Long.

I read a Zep book a few years ago that was new. Disappointed to find out that many of the close up shots in Song Remains the Same was added later on in post production. The guys got back together on a stage and reshot it. Jones had to wear a wig because he'd cut his hair.

What I like about Jones is that he stayed away from all the extra curricular activity. On the road he'd wander off away from the band and visit record stores, studios, etc. The legend of devil worship is amplified when you consider the other 3 members suffered tragedy while he didn't.

There are lots of articles like this one out there and many better ones but am in a hurry tonight so here's at least an overview:

Moby D*ck” – written and first recorded by Sleepy John Estes under the title “The Girl I Love,” and later covered by Bobby Parker. The album sleeve still erroneously claims Bonham, Jones, and Page are the writers.

Led Zeppelin, Greatest Song Thieves in Rock History, Nominated for Songwriters Hall of Fame | Showbiz411

Is the "Moby D*ck" being referenced above a euphemism for Moby Deck, Moby Dick, Moby Dock or Moby Duck? I mean, it's got to be one of those, right? It can't be Moby Dack, can it? :ponder::wink:

take your ear plugs, that place is so loud! I bet that would be a great experience.

Are you talking about the old or new venue?

Pretty good cover band of LZ. Wish they would play more of the deep catalog and not just the "hits". I hear Lez Zeppelin, (all chick cover band) is pretty good too.

John Paul Jones by far the most important member of the band. The pocket he and Bohnnom put down is mind blowing. It's such a feel more than a time signature. - band is almost as good as Rush... :)

Watch/Listen from that point in time. This is when the song gets magical and while I've never done drugs I think it is something like this.

I didn't know there was a new venue, so I'm betting old. It was near Van Andel.

Thats the new one. The old one was really small and even louder. I saw Prong there and my ears rang for ages after that.
