How do you define really good?

In the usual way: whatever way that suits whatever argument I am choosing to make at the moment. :P

Man, more bad luck...

This ballpark is like the Dodgers 10th man so far. Beating up on our players, stealing our doubles, but it CAN'T HOLD CASTELLANOS!

Well, they'd still have the problem of having a team built to contend in the AL where you plan for a DH, then have to go play stupid interleague games.

But, in interleagueplay you could then have that good hitter at catcher, Cabrera moves to third, Victors at first, and Castellanos goes to left.

The past two nights, the organist has been playing songs from Les Miserables between innings...
Appropriate, given the Tigers offensive and defensive miserableness.

Also appropriate given that it's a terrible musical and the National League is terrible at deciding whether or not to use the DH.

Tigers playing small ball NL style as Castellanos hits a 3 run jack and our defense kicks the ball all over the field. Our catcher is non existant behind the plate as he has caught a couple games in 5 years. Win any way you can.

Would you rather be the Tigers or the Red Sox or Cardinals?

The Tigers' window is about to slam closed because they have no credible players available in the minors. You don't have to have a great major league team OR a great farm system. If you want to have continued success rather than just short term success, you have to have both. The Tigers don't and that's on Dombrowski.

We'll see what he does to rebuild the foundation of the team as their stars get old and past their prime.

The ability to beat the sisters of the poor in the AL Central and make the playoffs does not a great GM make, IMO. I don't hate Dombrowski, I just don't think he's done a good job with getting the team over the top in the last couple of years when their championship window was open. I think he did a great job to get the window open in the first place, but he couldn't finish the job.

I get what your saying and obviously everyone would pick both being strong, but with that said if their going to sacrifice something I'd much rather it be the farm, the core is plenty young enough to allow time for a farm to be built up, while still giving us a strong chance to win a championship.

You might be on your own on this one.

GONZALEZ DROPS THE BALL ON THE TOSS AROUND THE HORN. ARE YOU WATCHING DAVE?!?!?

I'm sure he's a great guy, so find him a coaching job - just get him off my team.

Really? Tell me more.

Too much talk. Too much of a ham. Not very good. Acts like he's been here for years. I don't like it.

Dombrowski has made some great trades, he's very good at that. But he's awful at building bullpens, creating a good farm system, and developing a usable bench.

To be exact, Dombrowski has been awful at creating a good farm system here. He created a consistently great farm system in Montreal. So whatever he was doing up there is not happening here. It might because Montreal was leading edge in Latin America before just about anyone else was. Now practically everyone is there. So maybe someone spotted him that advantage there, and without it he's lost?
