House of Cards

I'm not sure if a thread has been started about this Netflix show or not, so I'm starting one now.

It's a political thriller starring Kevin Spacey.

The first season was very good, though a bit off-putting when he stares at the camera to address the viewer. That took some getting used to but after awhile I started to like that technique.

The second season was just released on Netflix.

After viewing the first episode of this season.....wow!

A shocking ending that reminds you that, like GOT, no character is safe.

Check it out if you're looking for something else to binge on.

I watched the first episode of the first season awhile back and liked it but did not watch further. Then the Olympics came along and in my quest to absolute avoid every part of the one thing that is probably actually more corrupt than Wayne County (the Olympics are a cesspool), I started watching again.

I am addicted.

Great show. I love that they break the fourth wall, a lot of times it adds a shot of humor to a very bleak show. The acting is great. Corey Stoll - I never realized what a great actor he is (like Bryan Cranston). Just finished the first season - going to watch the start of Season 2 tonight.

Thanks, Olympics !

I've got two more episodes of the second season to go.

Wow. This show has even gotten better than the first season.

Great stuff.

I binge watched the first two seasons. I really like it, but have a couple of issues:

a. not a fan of breaking the fourth wall, and

b. it is hard for me to maintain the suspension of disbelief regarding Spacy's ascention. At some point his machinations would be figured out / catch up to him.

I think Robin Wright is surprisingly great in it (never thought that highly of her acting). Some might say she is even cromulent.

If cromulent means she looks good in a tight skirt...yeah.

I personally don't find her that physically attractive in house of cards. I'd go so far as to say she hasn't aged particularly well despite obviously staying in good shape.

Regardless, I think she really is playing her role well, and hold her acting in higher regard as a consequence.

If we are talking about attractive womens in House of Cards, I'd suggest Kate Mara is far ahead of Wright.

Shoot, I'd say Kristen Connolly and Molly Parker are more attractive on the show.

I don't like the short hair at all. I wants my womens with long hair.

This is the correct answer. Long hair makes for good handle bars.

On a side note, I should really watch this show. Not really a fan of political shows but I'll give it a try.

Oh...yeah....first noticed her in American Horror Story. Gorgeous.

I despise politics and was not enthused about this show when I heard about it.

After watching a few episodes, I realized I was hooked.

Her nose is all weird. Robin blows that chick out of the water...now, and blows her WAAAAY out of the water in her prime.

I agree that Robin Wright is terrific in this series. The very essence of passive aggressiveness, evil cloaked in a Mona Lisa smile. I don't agree that she would look better with long hair than short hair. I think the cut she has for the show fits her and her character perfectly. That said, I don't find her alluring with either short or long hair.

I agree on the trajectory of Frank Underwood's ascension. Everything came so unbelievably easy, with the emphasis on "unbelievably".

We might disagree on other stuff, but we sure seem to tend to agree about TV shows.

We started House of Cards this last weekend. I've found the first three episodes entertaining.

Usually I only have time for 1 or 2 hours of TV per week. So this will put me in a bind when GOT returns in April. But if it HoC continues to entertaining, I'm sure we will find a way to work it in.

I made it it through the first season and three episodes into season two. Like the show so far. Really like the performance by Kevin Spacey. I still think Robin would look better with longer hair. I find Rachel to be the best looking when they clean her up.

Finished season 2 yesterday. I really like it.

That one scene made me feel very uncomfortable.

Frank's ascension is definitely hard to believe, but that doesn't bother me. No more unbelievable than what Walter white was able accomplish.

After quite a bit of TV this weekend, we've made it through episode 7 or 8 in season 1. Definately it is starting to lose my attention though, after starting strong. We will power through to season 2 just because we've heard so much good stuff about it, but I sure hope I never have to watch another episode about being in a barber shop quartet again. That was pretty terrible.

I guess one thing that made it easier for me to buy White's ascension were that nobody saw him as the man that knocks, so there was some element of surprise there whereas everyone would have seen Frank Underwood coming.

Curious to know which scene in particular was hard to watch. I presume you don't want to give a spoiler, so maybe you could PM it?

I just watched the third to last episode I believe, the end scene was so ridiculous that if I wasn't so close to the end of the season I'd give up on principle alone. The sad thing is I saw it coming too but I was just thinking "there is no way they actually go there."
