I like that right now they are saying 4-20 inches. That's helpful

Very. I can say for me this is the worst winter I have endured from a pure temperature standpoint (full disclosure: I'll be 35 in June). The last time I remember very cold daytime temperatures was as a freshman in HS in 1994. I grew up in NC, and below 20 degrees for a daytime temperature is very, very rare. In terms of snow this winter has been maybe a little above normal but nowhere near what we had in 2010 and 2011.

It makes a huge difference shoveling the snow in the daytime when I can actually see what the heck I'm doing and I don't have to rush and get it done before work.

I might even go as far as saying it was enjoyable this morning out there. The sun was out and the wind was mild. A nice fresh, white blanket of snow over everything and seeing the snow glisten on all the tree branches was actually quite beautiful. It wasn't bad at all.

Heck, it was so nice, I even put some salt down today.

I concur:

Pretty sure. You?

I saw an article recently that says otherwise. I can't search for it via my phone though. Well I can but it would be a pita.

I just have to say...

My wife and I have a friend that lives in South Carolina. Today they posted an album of photos on their Facebook documenting the "blizzard" they got, and yes they truly are referring to it as a blizzard.

I know, I know, even a dusting of snow down there will cause all hell to break loose. And yes, the light snow they got really is quite a bit for where they live. But come on, blizzard? Puh-lease.

Get over it. Yes, it's a blizzard down here.

I got about 7 inches today and now it's currently pouring rain at 22 degrees. In a city with very little ability to keep roads clear. Everyone's losing power due to all the ice as well. There will be a ton of outages across the southeast by morning. Hopefully I'm not one of them.

Yes, this is a blizzard for us. Very dangerous situation.

Raliegh is a ****ing war zone. 5 inches of snow. Jack knives semis, cars burned out, freeway is a parking lot, cars smashed all over, people aimless walking in snow.

It's bad.

Yes. I'd love going to the bulls game. I live about 15 minutes away.

Toledo doesn't come until July. But we can go to a different game. I know a few detroiters in the area from a lions meetup in durham.

Why are Car's burned out? Pre-Duke/NC :'P

Haha no that game actually got cancelled. People wanted to riot!

I have no idea but on the news there were multiple cars on fire.

I was walking the dogs and some lady stopped to tell me if I didn't place my windshield wipers up they'd be broken due to snow.

Southerners are from mars I think. There first reaction to snow is to slam on brakes as hard and often as possible.

This seems to be a trick you need in more mountainous climates. Maybe it's the higher winds, faster snow fall rates or the fierce hot high altitude winter sun that results in fast remelts and re-freezes but where my sister lives in the Sierras everyone keeps their wipers up when parked during the snow. Likewise when I used to go to Golden CO regularly I saw it pretty universally. But I haven't seen much value to doing this in MI other than rare occasions.

I remember a couple of colder winters, and maybe a snowier winter or two, but not in combination like this.

I really like that satellite view.

Low 20's today. We really haven't had any snow besides a small dusting in about 2 weeks. Haven't had to get the tracker out to plow in about 15 days. Still plenty of snow to look at though. Hopefully this year it warms up a bit quicker. It snowed on mothers day last year, May 15th.

1/8" of ice will always trump a foot of snow.

Ice trumps everything if not dealt with properly. I would rather drive through snow than drive on ice. Yesterday was a disaster getting home. There was an accident on Southfield involving over turned cars and a semi. I had to detour through a rough neighborhood. I was plowing along through all the snow that was never plowed down side streets around Lahser and 5 Mile. I turned a corner and hit a semi clear street....ice....I tailed a little, but gained control and went on my way, but yeah Ice is always worse than snow IMO.

Well I'm officially snowed in. Just tried running to the store (I'd been sick the 2 or 3 days leading up to the storm so I'm all out of food, juice, etc.) and couldn't get up my hill to a busier street. I had to back all the way back down and luckily got far enough back into my driveway so that I'm not in the road. Weeeeeee.

It's snowing again and I probably won't be able to go anywhere until saturday at least.

A lull in the action right now....just a little wet mist to add a lovely glaze on the 12+ inches that fell fast and furious this morning, to be followed by another round tonight, hopefully no more than 3-4 more inches. I luckily have no work hours today, and won't have to go in til 2 p.m. tomorrow.

Edit to add: now the projection is for another 6+ inches tonight.

Good lord. Enough already.

Our winter has been terrible for completely different reasons than you all...crazy drought out here right now with annoying temperatures of 80+ degrees.
