Postseason countdown and discussion...

Recommended Posts

Tui is not a good hitter. I'd take castellanos over him, assuming nick has a good showing in September, which I expect.

I'd rather carry both. You could pinch for both dirks and Iglesias in that case.

I don't know if I would pinch hit Iglesias with Tuiasosopo. It depends upon the situation.

Tuiasosopo gave this team an incredible 100 ABs. But he is reverting back to the Tuiasosopo that couldn't keep a job in the majors. I would think the Tigers understand this. The question is does Castellanos show enough to push Tuiasosopo off of the roster. I think Tuiasosopo has a roster spot now, but I think he is on a bit of a slippery slope.

Until Iglesias goes on about a 2-for-40 slump, Leyland has got to get OUT of the habit of pinch-hitting for him.

If Iglesias banjo-hits .300 and draws a walk or so a week, that's plenty enough reason he should stay in the lineup pretty much ALL the time.

I'd like to see someone on the Tiger's post season roster with base stealing capabilities to use in a late inning pinch running role.........and I have no idea who that would be.

I don't want to play the Pirates, only for the fact I would try to go to every game and the series will go 7 and we will lose. Breaking my heart and bank account.

I'd be in a similar position, though I wouldn't try to go to EVERY game. I'd attempt to go to Games 4-7 though.

I'm actually going to be in Pittsburg at the end of September for a few days. Wouldn't mind going back up for a WS game!

I made a pact back in 2001 with my pirates fan friend that if the tigers and pirates ever met in the World Series that we would drop everything and go to every game.

We have since modified it to one game in each city.

I grew up a big Pirate fan. Still suffering the loss of the 1992 National League Championship Series, not to mention the 1972 loss to the Reds on a wild pitch.

Would love to see the two teams hook up

I made a similar pact with my friend who is a Dodger fan. Not sure how I will break that news to my wife...maybe if I bring back some In 'N Out burgers...

Admittedly (probably) dumb question...but at what point does it start being discussed that Verlander moves to the bullpen and not Porcello for the playoffs?

When his arm falls off...and I am a fan of Porcello for his role.

Thanks for your input. Well thought-out answer to a question.

No need to thank me. It wasn't really that big of an effort on my part. I figured I would put as much thought into it that you did when you submitted the post in question.

I saw this response coming from a mile away.

That's because I posted it to the secret clique bulletin board for approval first. I'm sure you saw it there.

Oh. I'm sorry. I didn't realize that a question beginning with "at what point," meaning that there is hypothetically an accepted answer, could be answered in your way. Are you implying that Verlander could literally go out, get shelled for 10 hits and 9 runs without recording an out in each start for the rest of the year, Porcello could throw nothing but no-hitters, and you would still want Verlander in the rotation for the playoffs? Because I would say if that's the case, then there would be "a point" in there that I would then consider Porcello over Verlander for the playoff rotation. Maybe that's just me.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Here's a novel idea: instead of taunting other users, just ignore what you find ridiculous. How hard is that?

Is this the thread where someone gets upset during a bad series and says the Tigers are not a World Series caliber team? And then we get into a debate about whether the World Series winner is the best team or whether the post-season is just a crapshoot?

By definition, the WS winner is always the best team.

Now where did I put that sarcasm font?
