Took me a while to embrace Jay Onrait and Dan OToole when they were on TSN, which was a long time.

I came around completely recently, the two of them have amazing chemistry and are genuinely funny. Yes, they are goofy and silly and the humor is childish at times - but they make me laugh.

Their podcast is the most popular / most downloaded on itunes in Canada. Hopefully the American viewers embrace them.

I don't know why people expect FS1 to bring new insight to sports coverage and beat ESPN. FS1 is still ratings driven, and will talk about big stories. I turned FS1 on during its launch day and the first thing I saw was them talking about Johnny Manziel. Then I looked on the DVR and saw nothing but UFC coverage the rest of the day. No thanks.

I don't think I am going to be able to watch anything Donovan McNabb is on. That guy annoys me almost as much as Skip Bayless does. I stopped watching ESPN about the time Skip Bayless became their star.

Monday McNabb was talking about what a fan he was of A-Rod.

Really? First he cheats, then lies about it, then apologizes for it, does it again, recruits others to do it and then turns some of the same guys in that he himself recruited. A cheat, a liar and a rat. Yeah, big fan of that. Anyone that pulls for A-Rod is a moron. Dempster didn't throw at him over the steroids, he threw at him because he (allegedly) ratted other guys out.

I turned it on the other afternoon and there was a Regis Philbin talk show. What else can I expect...Barbara Walters talking about women's volleyball?

Never again

I've given FS1 two months and it's unwatchable. Seems every time I turn it on either UFC or a UFC reality show is on. This was supposed to compete with ESPN? NBCSN has better programming.

I love NBCSN. I keep trying to give FS1 a shot, but minus some Champions League games it's really failed so far.

I saw Ryan Field doing the NASCAR postgame show once as well. He was struggling really bad. If he was at a Toastmasters meeting he would've had about 20 ahhs and errs.

As bad as Speed became when NASCAR took over, it at least gave us LeMans, Sebring and many European races. R.I. restless P.

I admit I haven't watched it much, but I'm hesitant to write it off because they don't have full content available yet. That I recall, they have worked for more coverage with MLB and the NFL that won't start until next year, and I would imagine they are trying to tap into the other two major US sports. Right now they're confined to the sports they have with more flexible contracts. I'm sure they're working harder to try to win over consumers, it's just going to take some time.

I'm watching Europa League action tonight on FS2, again. It's been on my TV for just over two hours now.

All the soccer matches - Champions and Europa Leagues - are pretty nice.

I actually rather enjoy FS1 so far. While they seem to only cover about half the topics that SportsCenter does on Fox Sports Live, they at least do not show favoritism in the least. The "panel" to me has actually been somewhat interesting, especially once they started only really talking to the football guys about football, the baseball guy/s about baseball, etc. Andy Roddick, to me, has actually been pretty good across all sports, IMO. And I love Jay and Dan.

As far as the rest of the programming, I'm not too concerned with it. ESPN has the daytime programming on lockdown with constant re-spins of SportsCenter and original football content all day long, so at work that is what I have on. FS1 is pushing the MMA, as they should because that's their main platform because it's kind of the only thing left. Much like ESPN has MLB and NFL shows all day long.

As for weekends, I actually enjoy their college football productions and always have for the most part. Papadaikas is useless, but everyone else is pretty good. Fox College Saturday is obviously not as entertaining as College GameDay, but it's a nice change of pace if you want more analysis and less fluff. However, GameDay is one of the best shows on television, IMO, all because of Chris Fowler. GameDay always has those original pieces during the show that go in depth for some personal stuff, some non-D1 specials, human interest stories, etc., which Fox College Saturday doesn't have a grasp on yet, but they are trying to develop something with their one-on-one interviews with players and coaches. They'll grow. I just hope that they don't give up on the channel or their shows too early. I think they realize that it takes a long time to establish a fan base and it will come if you keep at it and are consistent. The way ESPN is going, FS1 WILL get their viewership up, they just have to be confident in what they are doing.

I made it through all of about 30 seconds of them. I don't need more sophomoric anchors. I have ESPN for that.

I thought I'd come back to this subject.

The EPL on NBC Sports Network has got me locked in on that station. With all the live games and the replay shows during the course of the week on the station, NBC Sports Network has become my network of choice if there are no local sports on the TV for FSD. And when there isn't soccer, quite frequently there's an NHL hockey game.

FS1 hasn't really hooked my interest yet. There isn't enough Champions League games or any sort of events to keep me stuck on that station. Sometimes I'll turn it on to see if they have something about MMA, but I find myself watching more of the World Series of MMA (or whatever the actual name of the organization is) since I'm already kind of glued into that station.

Unless there's a major game I'm watching on ESPN, I never turn it on. I think the Rose Bowl was on ESPN. I guess that would qualify as the last time my TV was on ESPN for more than 15 minutes at a time.

I have gotten to a point where unless it's about soccer, I don't really watch any of the news-information shows at all on any of the sports cable stations. The just don't serve any real purpose for me.

I still watch a whole lot of ESPN. It's my go to if I am not fixed on a specific sport. Most of the time I just got to NBA/NHL/MLB Network, if they have nothing interesting on I just watch ESPN. I watched FS1 the first day and haven't watched anything on it since. They show MMA, Soccer and some other things. MMA and Soccer are probably my least two favorite athletic endeavors out there, so it's actually a turn off.

I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other on soccer, I know I don't enjoy it, but whatever. But with MMA, I find that sport to be sickening.

Maybe this might be a good way to address this. Based on what you feel might be a significant amount of your sports viewing time, what do you watch the most in order?

Mine would probably be this right now. With every season this probably changes,

1) FSD

2) NBC Sports Network

Most of my time is on those two.

After that:

3) Golf Channel (to watch the tourneys because there's almost always one on)

4) Network TV Sports - Lions on Fox is 90% of it. Now that the Lions are done, I don't watch hardly anything, but that will change with the Olympics.

5) FS1 - Pretty much only Champions League stuff and the occasional MMA "catch."

6) ESPN 1/2 - Always actual games and none of the other programming. For example, the Rose Bowl.

7) Big Ten Network - this will change significantly in the spring when college softball hits the station. It'll probably jump to No. 4.

During the postseason I was watching a lot of of MLB network, but I'm down to not watching that at all again. In fact, I can't remember the station number right off hand.

That's probably where I am at. Now, I know I'm a rare bird and few will be close to mine. But that's where I am.

Well...I can't stand ESPN and their Northeast slant on everything...

They basically slant their coverage to Boston and New York...

Which I have little or no interest...

I only watch ESPN when games are on that I want to see...

Never their other sports analysis or programs, because THEY SUCK!!!

They can have their Red Sox and Yankees and choke on them...

I've come to the conclusion that the problem with FS1 is just the production quality. I don't know if that's the word for it...but when I watch, even though I know it's a legitimate network, everything just seems "cheap" to me, I guess? Like, the graphics seem "cheap" and the backgrounds seem "cheap," while with ESPN, everything seems higher quality across the board. I don't know if it's the anchors, I don't know if it's the graphics, I actually think it might be the colors that both networks use. There's just something about the light blue/blue/yellow color scheme that seems "cheap" compared to black and red. I don't know. I actually enjoy Fox Sports Live for Jay and Dan, but I find that I get bored of it. I will leave the same SportsCenter on in the background all day long and not think twice about it. However, if I have FS Live on overnight while I'm trying to fall asleep, like I use to do with SportsCenter, I will eventually just get sick of it for some reason and turn it to SportsCenter. I don't know why. Maybe it's just carryover from terrible shows like BDSSP on Fox Sports has me holding some deep-thought grudge against Fox Sports. I really can't figure it out.

There's really no live coverage of anything on FS1 that draws me to it, besides the occasional college basketball and football game. I'm not a soccer fan, so I don't watch any channels for that. The biggest draw to me for any sports network is always the highlight show. SportsCenter/Fox Sports Live. I don't care for any of the crappy non-highlight productions like Boys in the Hall and junk like that. I really want FS1 to be the channel I go to when I want sports highlights, but it just doesn't happen yet. I still go right to ESPN. I only watch FSN Detroit when it's a Tigers/Wings/Pistons game. It's never on my TV besides for those.

When it actually comes to non-highlight sports shows, I prefer Big Ten Network. I think their stuff is really well done. Maybe it's because I just have more of a connection to the Big Ten schools.

Jockularity? What the hell does that even mean?
You will have to ask Father Mulcahy. He is the only one who ever used the word.
