A. Garcia & B. Villarreal for Jose Iglesias (confirmed)

Recommended Posts

I look at as Iglesias is Cabrera's sidekick. Cabrera will do the hitting for both of them and Iglesias will do the fielding for both of them.

Even after the Iglesias trade, I think the Tigers would be very smart to trade Scherzer to the Rangers this winter for Profar & another piece or two. Max is going to command a HUGE deal after next season, and we don't need another Verlander contract around our necks.

A middle infield of Iglesias & Profar would be lights out for our pitching staff, and more than make up having Prince & Cabrera at the corners.

Nice idea, but remember next year you can only offer one yr of Scherzer in trade. Not sure I would give up a top SS for one year of any pitcher.

Ilitch is a multi-billionaire. He's got plenty of money to pay Scherzer, Verlander, Cabrera, Fielder and 50 more of them if he feels like it.

You also get the right to negotiate an extension, which any deal would hinge upon.

This is also what I think, especially whenever someone frets about how "overpaying" a certain player will affect our ability to pay for players down the road. As long as Ilitch is alive--and billionaires have to resources to live well into their 90s--the Tigers have practically no budget constraints.

Yeah, It was really sad to see Carlos breakdown physically. He was such a smart, smooth, flashy, talented player.

Guillen is, by a wide margin, my favorite Tigers player since I've been an adult.

Umm, NBA forum is 3 doors down on your left.

(just kidding.)

RA Dickey got one and Adrian Gonzalez couldn't agree to one with Boston during the 2010 trade, just to name a few.

Considering Texas has nowhere to play Profar, I think they take that deal in a heartbeat. Profar is rotting away on their bench and his development is being hindered by not playing every day. If they can improve their team dramatically by trading him, I'm betting they'll do it this winter.

If Iglesias is joining the team Friday, I bet the Peralta suspension is announced tomorrow.

Interesting. So if something happens Friday, it will result in something else happening the day before. Yes.

At the rate Andrus is going this season, Profar may have his spot by Sept......

With $118 million to go in that deal, I don't think he is going anywhere.

If nothing else, we now have an Iggy/Miggy left side of the infield. Now just bring back Higgy, and get Biggio and Wigginton, and we'll have the unstoppable Iggy/Higgy/Miggy/Biggy/Wiggy lineup.

Now THIS is silly, but in a good way. Well done sir.

I do like this trade. I think Garcia is pretty overrated. I'm more upset we lost Vazquez (even without considering that we lost him for a worse player). Garcia's minor league stats are the prfect reason to trade him while he still has value. He's been hitting well in Toledo, but his K/BB (especially his BB rate) suggests he doesn't have the plate discipline to make it in the majors.

This move should make our rotation happy.

The horribly amateurish statistical gymnastics many are performing in this thread are silly

Oh no no no. Just ask anyone here. Power in the minors means absolutely nothing for power in the majors. You let Avisail get to age 23 and he'll be smacking homers left and right. If Danry Vasquez is going to be a 20 HR guy, Avisail might as well already start having his name etched at the top of the HR record books.

Next time at least attempt to sarcastically represent the argument correctly....then you might seem witty.

For example?

I had the same question. I don't want to go back and read the whole thread, but I don't remember seeing a lot of statistics or statistical controversy in this particular thread
