Okay. Since nobody understands my point I will reiterate it. I am making comments about people who act like they don't need fancy stuff cause they have simple, less complicated tastes are missing the point. They are choosing the big, multi-billion dollar corporation at the expense of the the mom and pop shop. Yet their attitude is like they are doing the opposite. That is the point and only the point. I do not care if you like Olive Garden. Just don't pretend it's because you are some salt of the earth person with simple tastes. Cause it ain't that.

I am not saying you are a bad person for liking Bud. Nor am I saying that I am Mr. Cutting Edge Beer guy. I am saying i like beer for the complex taste and to enjoy with friends who also like that and i hate being around drunks who are just doing it for that.

Now I know that people still will not get this due to their lack of refinement in the department of understanding.

I'm sure it is my lack of refinement in the department of understanding, but:

a. is anyone in this thread who claims they drink Bud because doing so because it makes them look like a salt of the earth, and

b. is it a given that people drink Bud to get drunk?

lol 'refinement in the department of understanding'? lol

I DESPISE Bud for myself personally. I usually spend about 10.00 on a 6 pack....does that sound like Bud to you? I have said this multiple times through out this forum and in this very thread....yeah....'refinement in the department of understanding'

I actually cannot recall the last time I had a 'rice beer'....back when I was broke and young I drank Michelob Lite and this was back when they had those cool bottles with the foil on them.

I go on an annual fishing trip to Canada with friends every year and used to take 30 packs of Busch Lite for many reasons....

1. You are technically only allowed 1 case per man over the border (we try 2 sometimes) and Busch is one of the only ones with a 30 pack and we reference it as a case when going through customs. They stopped us once and did a search and said nothing about the 30 packs and how they were technically not cases.

2. When you are on a boat for 14 hours a day and want to kick back and have a couple dozen beers....Sierra Nevada really doesn't cut it....for multiple reasons...1. no self respecting fisherman is taking bottles out on the water...you take cans if you take anything and Sierra Nevada in cans is awful compared to tap or bottle....2. Drinking heavier beers is fine when you want 4-5, but if you want to 'tie one on' the micro brews just do not cut it.

The last time I took Busch lite was about 4 years ago I think, but I am thinking about going back to it for the reasons I stated above.

And my point has never been I judge people who like Bud. My point is that I don't like going out with people who mindlessly pound whatever beer until they are drunk and incoherent. My point is I like to drink with people who love beer for the complex and rich taste of a good microbrew like I do. it's a hobby to me. I don't get drunk. I like drinking with like minded people who choose to go out for 4 hours and have 3 beers and talk about it. And sports. And music.

What about people who can get drunk by mindlessly pounding whatever beer and then not become incoherent? Where do those people fit in?

The fit in on the ice during or after a pick-up game.

Growing up, my nickname was bud. So naturally I drank it almost exclusively from 9th grade and on. Once I turned 21 I started to dabble in more "refined" beers but I still occasionally drink a bud or bud light when I'm shooting pool with my friends, who are mostly poor musicians, and don't want to feel like a snob.

Refinesmanship is an art to and of itself. And like much art it is the refined that truly appreciate it.

Post 98 you say this:

I am not saying you are a bad person for liking Bud.

Maybe you meant a rhetorical 'you', but you responded to my quote directly.

I have stated numerous times in the beer threads, in the game threads in THIS thread that I am a micro brew drinker. The above misinterpretation of me along with this quote in the very same response made me lol a little..

Now I know that people still will not get this due to their lack of refinement in the department of understanding.

Sorry.

I have been to Italy and eaten in the restaurants....those who say the Olive Garden is not 'true Italian' are right for the most part....the Olive Garden is better.

Obviously, I'm not sure of the calibre of the restaurants you ate at in Rome, but I'd be shocked if the Olive Garden was actually better. I don't doubt that you *prefer* Olive Garden; you may have just not reached the level of refined palate necessary to make a worthwhile judgment.

The noodles at the Olive garden may droop, but the satire at Cafe de la MTS is always al dente!

I have a really good friend who is an artist, and makes his living that way. His favorite beer? Bud Light and keep em coming.

People who are refined are people who are usually fake as hell.

I have eaten at the restaurants in Paris, Kuwait and Dubai as well. We eat out at least 3 times a week and have been for the past 4-5 years. We have tried just about everything. Arabic food is a staple, Chinese, French, EYE talian, Polish, Mexican, Korean, Thai...some of it was authentic, some not.

I do not think it is a level of refinement, but more personal taste. Some have it and some do not.

I did not mean you specifically.

Well that makes more sense. The irony of the post if it was referring to me was funny.

Who are you to declare what someone else's reasons for liking something are or are not?

If you had a more refined palate for message board posts, you would understand.

Again it comes back to refining yourself. In tastes, in humor in human understanding. It takes time and effort. Even refinement needs refinery,

I know you're frustrated. I know you can't properly form what you are feeling into words. But that accusation is incorrect. i am not fake at all. And being an artist doesn't make you refined. I mean unless you don't understand the word.
