How can you water down water?

Recommended Posts

I'm not judging others as to what they drink. I just have very refined tastes and choose drinking companions that also ejoy beer for the craft of it. We like to drink it and talk about it. We don't get hammered. And we like to compare notes and try new things.

I don't like drinking with people who could care less they just want to shovel it into their mouths and get smashed. It's an entertainment choice, not a judgement. Tons of my friends drink crap beer and I'll drink with them. I just don't like to, and if it is in my control I don't, due to the refinement of my tastes.

I personally don't care what anyone else drinks, and I don't think that my better taste makes me a better person than the other person. I have many other things in my repertoire that makes me a better person.:D

Me neither. Drinking to me isn't about getting drunk. i like to sit down with like minded people, hang out and talk. And beer is a hobby of mine. So therefore when I drink I like to drink with people who have similar intersts. And one of the things i like tlalking about is beer and the refinement thereof.

Do you not care for them because they are sloppy drunks?

Or is it more of a case of looking down on their taste of beer?

I really don't care what someone else drinks. If they offer me something to eat or drink that I don't care for, I just say no thank you.

But, I don't like being around sloppy drunks, whether it's being drunk on MadDog wine or a $200.00 bottle of wine.

Didn't see your question the first time through. I don't know why I don't care for them -- I just usually don't. I do think Bud tastes terrible, but there are some trendy hoppy beers that I also think taste terrible. That doesn't mean I instantly hate someone who purchases and consumes Budweiser products, but from my experience, I tend to not care for someone if they do. Years ago, Mark Wahlberg and I got trashed in Windsor at the strip clubs. He drank Bud Light the entire night but to my surprise couldn't have been a nicer or more down-to-earth guy. It's not an absolute.

This might be my favorite thread since bacondrips and his "girlfriend".

Where is Mr.G when you need him for a one liner.

Agree entirely. The only type of people I tend to care for less than people who drink Budweiser products are people who think the purpose of drinking is to get trashed and vomit off a balcony into a pool.

Yes. If a fellow companion chooses that behavior he is likely to not get invited to the next session. it is incosistent with our refinement of beer and palates.

Bud drinkers probably eat pedestrian cow meat burgers whilst partaking their mass produced slag.

Us refined guys have the finest horse meat burgers imported from Europe with our Dogfish Head ales.

Have you had Founders CBS IS? Being a huge Imperial aficionado, I was wetting myself when I received a bottle as a gift. The appearance: Black as coal. But when held to the light it appears coffee brown. I immediately smelled dark chocolate, peppermint, bacon. Which of course I expected, but what I didn't expect was how slippery-smooth and downright oily it was. I've had KBS before and the taste/aroma/feel/vibe/groove was bombastic. In a good way though.

Yeah I have. That is a good take. I try and drink one a few times a month.

Welcome to six years ago with that device.

That device is at least 8 years old. And to be fair, I never claimed my devices to be refined.

Done with beer for tonight and on to my refined 3 liter bottle of Livingston Cellars Blush Chablis. I know it is a fine vintage because it is in glass and not cardboard.

How dare you litter my thread with an off-topic post!

Next thing, you'll be posting cat pictures and telling dumb jokes!

If you want a water at our local microbrew Dragonmead, ask for a Bud Light.

I enjoy a good microbrew. I've found myself a few really good ones and stick with them. Give me a good stout or porter and I'm happy, but I'll also drink Labatt Blue, Canadian or Miller Lite if out and about.

So a cat walks into a bar with a duck on it's head, and the bartender says...

For the record, I had one Bell's White Winter Ale last night. It was good. And whatever anyone else did while I consumed it, and whatever anyone else thinks of its quality versus other beverages, did not affect my enjoyment of its flavor whatsoever.

It's like saying "I don't need that fancy pants homemade Italian (which you likely pronounce "eye-talian") place in town. Just give me Novi Olive Garden." And expecting anyone to respect it.

I have been to Italy and eaten in the restaurants....those who say the Olive Garden is not 'true Italian' are right for the most part....the Olive Garden is better. Maybe it was just the restaurants in Rome we chose, but they were all pretty busy, fairly expensive and def were not tourist traps.

Another popular meme spouted off by those who have not experienced it because it is the cool thing to say.

Okay. Since nobody understands my point I will reiterate it. I am making comments about people who act like they don't need fancy stuff cause they have simple, less complicated tastes are missing the point. They are choosing the big, multi-billion dollar corporation at the expense of the the mom and pop shop. Yet their attitude is like they are doing the opposite. That is the point and only the point. I do not care if you like Olive Garden. Just don't pretend it's because you are some salt of the earth person with simple tastes. Cause it ain't that.

I am not saying you are a bad person for liking Bud. Nor am I saying that I am Mr. Cutting Edge Beer guy. I am saying i like beer for the complex taste and to enjoy with friends who also like that and i hate being around drunks who are just doing it for that.

Now I know that people still will not get this due to their lack of refinement in the department of understanding.

84, you do realize that those 'refined tastes' of yours are more a matter of genetics than cultivation? Humans have major genetic variation in taste sensitivity and breadth, and for those not in the sensitive groups, they not only don't know what you are talking about, they have no possibility of knowing and thus are highly unlikely to pay for products whose properties they cannot distinguish even if they wanted to. Now you may have a fair political point about the international industrial food business, but really, that is a separate matter from taste discrimination.

So enjoy yourself and your lucky genes, but don't bother worrying about others who are basically wired differently and so will likely never share your world view.
