2013 TigerFest

Not sure if it's been announced yet, but my sources tell me it's going to be Saturday, January 26.

Anyone aside from me have the sinking feeling that they are going to move to handing out only signed photo cards (like they do at ABC Warehouse, Meijer, etc.) --not allowing anything from the outside to be brought in? They could sell the idea--not to mention more tickets--as a way to get autos into the hands of more (especially "younger") fans, faster.

Dang, was really hoping it would be the weekend before. Also wondering when the information is going to be released. It seems like in years past tickets were released closer to thanksgiving.

If anyone took their survey last year, it sounded like they are exploring making autographs a pay per group of players on top of ticket prices.

THat would be fine with me because it seems like there's two distinct groups of attendees, those that want the autographs and those who don't. And those who do wait in line for 45 minutes to end up with Ramon Santiago and the person 10 minutes behind them gets Justin Verlander.

I enjoy it just to hang out at Comerica Park. I mostly stick to the Q&A area.

How long until our first post complaining about how this event isn't held indoors?

I wish it were indoors where weather wasn't a factor.

Fantastic event. My only complaint is that I wish it were indoors. The weather is too unpredictable this time of year.

I went in 2011 and enjoyed myself, but I don't think I'd go again. I don't have any interest in getting autographs. I did enjoy the locker room tours and a nice surprise was having JV as the Tiger in there for photos. My wife and nephew each had one taken. Aside from that we stayed in the area where the player and management interviews were taking place.

Wonder if the Tigers will follow the Nats lead and royally screw those that go to collect autographs....

NatsFest | nationals.com: Fan Forum

No way I'm paying $20 for two random players after freezing my arse off waiting in line, charity or no charity.

That is what the survey asked last year, if fans would be against doing that. I think that that would be an epic failure on the Tigers part. I would consider no longer attending the event. The crowds from the autograph signings would all of a sudden be shifted towards the Q and A's where it would quickly become to crowded. I enjoy getting the keepsake of autographs. I don't see why they should change it at this point in time but something tells me they will. I have not minded the randomness of the signers. If you go with a group, like my dad and I do, we would both have to pay 20 dollars for the autographs but who would want to wait in the line alone?

Terrible idea, imo.

This is probably correct as the Whitecaps Winter Banquet is January 23 & it is co-oordinated with Tigerfest....

The event sold out in under an hour. I missed out so if anyone has extras or is looking to sell their tickets please let me know.
