Tigers Acquire Infante, Sanchez and a pick from Marlins for Turner, Brantly, Flynn

Recommended Posts

I like the timing for my own sake - given that the team is hot, it should minimize the "they're panicking and desperate" talk.

This trade excites me as it makes this year's team better. Though we're on year 7 of being competitive, it's still better than the mid-90's when trades were made for 2-3 years down the road.

time for a bunch of people to freak out over guys they never saw play.....

does this mean Turner's value wasn't as high as we thought?

Maybe he'll be like Rick Porcello. Maybe he'll take two or three years to hit his stride and the Tigers want to win now and not wait for two or three years to enjoy his talents.

Sanchez signing or re-signing doesn't have much to do with this deal. We paid (in prospects) for the rest of Sanchez' 2012. The Marlins comp pick should not be overlooked. We go from picking 75-80, to something like 35-38 + the extra half a million-750k (or is it even more) to spend in next year's draft.

unless sanchez resigns, this is a bad deal.

getting infante back is nice though, im tired of seeing ramon/worth/raburn.

make that re-signs!

I don't like it, but it's a leaner... It all depends on how Sanchez pitches this year, and whether he re-signs...

Tigers give up Turner, Brantley and Flynn for Sanchez, Infante. Early consensus from scouts: good deal for Tigers.

--And that doesn't include the upgrade in draft.

That does it. Scouts like it.

Who now sleeps with the fishes to make room for these two guys on the roster?

Was thinking that also.

Sanchez replaces Turner. Will be interesting to see what happens when Smyly gets back. Maybe he sticks in AAA until Sept?

Worth goes down for Infante. Bigger question will be who goes when Dirks gets back.

Deal makes sense for both sides if the Tigers have some sort of agreement already in place to lock up Sanchez to a reasonable extension. I can't imagine they would use Turner as a center piece of a deal for a rental.

Seems a decent deal just on a body for body basis, but have to agree that it all hinges on signing Sanchez.

There is no reason to keep Raburn now IMO. And with Turner gone = the 2 spots.

This seems reasonable. The Tigers are a good team to be on too, unless you're Roy Oswalt.

Raburn?

or the other other outside possibility is Kelly. He and Raburn have been just about equally valueless this season. Prolly depends on whether JL thinks Omar can double as his spare RH OF.

I like this deal as well. Infante's a no-brainer, and Sanchez is automatic number four/could be number three in the rotation.

Jacob Turner wasn't progressing as fast as many thought he would, Brantly was destined to be in this type of trade with our organizational depth at catcher, and we get a higher pick.

This is good for now, and might just be great for later.

Highly rated prospects are nice to have, but almost always for trade bait rather than your' teams' future.
