Prince moves on! The booing was ridiculous though. I kind of felt bad for Cano, but then I looked up his salary.

Cano eliminated.

Throws up a doughnut in front of a HOSTILE crowd, much to their approval.

You know what?

KC fans can go suck an egg.

That is royally messed up, booing Cano.

I never cared one way or another about KC, but from now on, I want MY team to pound their asses every time they play them.

They SUCK.

Honestly, this is why there shouldn't be any kind of Captains of the Derby. It's stupid and just like the Managers getting heat, the players can get the heat.

I can see the POV from KC fans... basically years of small market frustration taken out on Robinson Cano.

Not impressed by the KC fans.

If he didn't like it, he should have hit 15 bombs. That would have shut them up... Instead he was shut out.... I love it personally.

Here comes 12 from Prince. I'm feeling it.

That was awesome. I never thought the Home Run Derby needed a villain, but that was sheer entertainment

Honestly, I really don't see a problem with it. I wouldn't have done it, but I don't see an issue with it.

This. Actually made the homerun derby a bit more watchable.

I've never seen anything like that at a HR derby.

I really don't know what Cano was thinking not picking Butler, though.

No that was BS league by the people in KC. Just horrible. The HR Derby is a (boring) exhibition where everyone just chills out and sits back and watches a bunch of bombs get hit. To treat Cano like that -- a great player who did NOTHING wrong -- is just ridiculous. Should Butler have been in the derby? Maybe, but he wasn't and it's not Cano's fault.

As pretty of a stadium as Kauffman is, and as nice of a good young team they have, that club can just suck it. If those fans want to boo something they should maybe think about booing the skinflint ownership and the fact that the Royals have been the laughing stock of the American League since 1986.

Really?

He's a villian?

So glad you were entertained by that.

From my point of view, that was beyond mean, for no good reason.

How do you think his father felt, being part of that?

He didn't pick Butler (so 100% his fault)

He didn't hit any homeruns to silence the crowd (again, 100% his fault)

From my point of view, that was beyond mean, for no good reason.

Robinson Canó, Salary

US$ 14,000,000 (2012)

He'll live. So will his roided-out Dad.

I actually think Sabathia and Granderson may have made it worse by going out there, honestly.

Either way, Cano didn't help his cause by not picking the hometown favorite to be in this exhibition. And really, he could have easily done it since the HR Derby doesn't determine home field advantage in the WS.

Okay he didn't get picked by Cano who was the captain -- I didn't realize that's how it worked because like I said this is a dippy competition that is nearly unwatchable.

Still, with this new knowledge, I think the KC fans were awful. Just terrible.

A villain for this evening? Yes. I wasn't even necessarily rooting against him (other than wanting Prince to advance), but it was pretty dang compelling.

I'm glad I was entertained, too. I'm not saying I want him pelted with debris or anything, but it was fun to sit back and watch.

His dad got to pitch BP on an MLB field. If the boos soured it for him, then that stinks... but at the end of the day he got booed while pitching on an MLB field. Me? I'm sitting here watching TV. I'd gladly trade places

I have no idea what the thought process on picking the "team" (if you want to call them that) was, or how much input a "captain" gets, etc.

Regardless, there's nothing that Robinson Cano has ever done in this game to deserve what he got tonight, in front of his father, to boot.

It stinks.
