thefunk 132 Posted December 20, 2011 Not sure what to think about this one. I've heard everything already, that we'll either 1. Roll VT, or 2. We're underestimating a team with a coach who has more bowl experience.I don't really buy the second one, seeing as you can't really underestimate your opponent when they're ranked ahead of you. That doesn't add up.All I know is I want to win in such a huge manner that we get as high a pre-season ranking as possible next year. As much as I hate the system, a big bowl win with an upset of Alabama next year could put us in GREAT position. That's all.

pyrotigers 430 Posted December 24, 2011 I really don't know what to think about this game, I still kind of feel like I don't have a good grip on how good either team in the game actually is, like it really could be a close game or a blow out win for either team
Truth 10 Posted December 24, 2011 I have a probably ill deserved confidence about this game. It's almost exclusively based on Denard's progression through the season, it's as if everything started clicking for him the last few games. Hopefully that was cast in cement and the time off doesn't set him back. The defense, more specifically the secondary, was burned a surprising number of times against Ohio (surprising only because they hadn't given up many big plays up until then). Still, I think much of that is correctable and the young guys (Countess, Morgan and Ryan) should continue to improve. Finally, I think emotion is on the Wolverines side. There's a sense that Michigan is back and they have a chance to validate that against a team that's struggled to sell tickets.

Porcelain God 10 Posted December 28, 2011 Based on Denard's growing confidence in this offense, I'm cautiously optimistic.
monkeynuts 10 Posted December 28, 2011 If any of you guys live near New Orleans...sounds like tix are really cheap on Stub Hub...$15...plus the school still has a few thousand to sell...Michigan football program sells about 86 percent of its Sugar Bowl tickets

Jeez.

Deleterious 2,118 Posted December 30, 2011 Seems kind of harsh, doesn't it? The kid misses curfew so you send him home to miss a once-in-a-lifetime expirience? Jeez.Depends on the situation. If curfew was 10 PM and he walks in at 10:03 PM then I agree. Now if he walks in at 3 AM with a hooker on each arm, then it is probably justified. It also depends if this was the first time he was late or he has a history of this.
mr0zip0 10 Posted December 30, 2011 Wow... That kicker was a 5th year senior too... So his football career is over because he missed one curfew... That is way too harsh, they should be handled professionally, but they're still kids. Punish him by making him run laps or something, not giving him a bus ticket... We ll know that if it had been the starting QB, he would've been given a 2nd chance.Va. Tech is down to only one kicker, a kickoff specialist, now... He is senior who has missed the only two field goal attempts of his career, from 53 and 57... He has never even attempted an extra point.

I'm just saying, I doubt he came walking in a few minutes after curfew to warrant such a harsh penalty.
thefunk 132 Posted December 31, 2011 The articles I've read haven't mentioned either... Just that he missed a 1am bed check.the real story will probably never come out, but I highly doubt he strolled in from a midnight walk around the french quarter thinking deep thoughts and talking to his mother on the phone. This is New Orleans. Kid's in College. I guarantee you the punishment fits the crime, whatever it was.
Nastradamus 270 Posted December 31, 2011 Its happened a lot in bowl games. Florida St. a few years ago comes to mind. Coaches are necessarily strict with kids on these bowl trips IMO. They don't want them out partying in strange cities getting their names in the paper for doing something dumb. They can't afford it
Gehringer_2 2,530 Posted December 31, 2011 The articles I've read haven't mentioned either... Just that he missed a 1am bed check. You'd have to say that sneaking out after hours is certainly in category a good bit beyond showing up a bit late - if you were there and then left on the sly there is almost no extenuating circumstance conceivable for either the action or the intent.
