20th Anniversary of two albums that changed everything....Nevermind and Ten.

Recommended Posts

September 24th marks the 20th anniversary of Nevermind by Nirvana and Pearl Jam's "Ten" also just recently reached the 20 year mark.

On September 25th I am doing an Under The Radar Radio show dedicated to those two albums and other great "alternative" tracks from the era if 1991-1997. I am looking for suggestions.

A- They don't have to be grunge are guitar-heavy rock

B- One of the things I am really looking for are songs that got a lot of radio love back then, that you never hear now - and some are one hit wonders, of course.

To name 3 right off the top

Breeders "Cannonball"

Local H "Bound For The Floor"

Spacehog "In The Meantime"

I would love to get your input.....

This list could get crazy. I'll see Zimm's "Debonair" and raise with:

Here's another one that was sort of a one-hit wonder (I still have this album):

I was also partial to this song:

Probably more to come.

The singer from the group was a really super nice guy and he died very young from cancer (he was in his early 30s, his name was Josh Clayton-Felt

Those two albums were pretty good, but I really hated the grunge era of music...so much so that all I listened to was britpop at that time. Looking back, britpop wasn't that great either, but it was a hell of a lot better than what was getting airplay over here.

Sep 24th is my birfday. I had no idea those records were released on my birfday. I think RHCP Blood Sugar Sex Magik was the same day, and I do remember that was on my birthday.

I haven't listened to them in years, but at the time I remember really liking a band called The Mighty Lemon Drops. I still have a cassette, but no place to play it.

I like Nirvana, but unfortunately I lived over a game room at the time that played that album nonstop. That sadly ruined it for me for a long time.
