College Football Week 1 Thread

Recommended Posts

College football season returns Thursday with a bunch of games that are likely to excite no one. Looks like the juiciest opening night matchup might be Syracuse and Wake Forest. Yawn. At least we have Oregon-LSU to look forward to on Saturday. Nonetheless, I'm excited to watch my Huskies pummel Fordham on ESPN3.com. Chips fans will get to see their team open the season against South Carolina State on opening night as well. Here's a list of some notable games this week:

Thursday

Fordham at Connecticut

Wake Forest at Syracuse

UNLV at #11 Wisconsin

Friday

Youngstown State at #17 Michigan State

#14 TCU at Baylor

Saturday

Northwestern at Boston College

Minnesota at #25 USC

South Florida at #16 Notre Dame

Western Michigan at Michigan

Troy at Clemson

UCLA at Houston

BYU at Ole Miss

Fresno State at Cal

East Carolina at #12 South Carolina

#5 Boise State at #19 Georgia

#3 Oregon at #4 LSU

Tulsa at #1 Oklahoma

Sunday

Marshall at #24 West Virginia

SMU at #8 Texas A&M

Monday

Miami at Maryland

I will be in Eugene for Oregon-LSU.

It's too bad that both teams will be in Texas. Still, it's nice to be back in a college town on gameday.

Go Pirates! I'd say "Beat (South Carolina team name shortened)", but that would probably be too vulgar

Dear TCU,

This is what would happen to you 3 or 4 times a year if you played in a real conference.

Ohio State Buckeyes suspend Jordan Hall, Corey Brown, Travis Howard for receiving impermissible benefits - ESPN

Looks like the Buckeyes will be without a few players to start the season .. I mean, a few MORE players.

:disappnt:

Thank goodness the Tigers will be playing an extended season this year. I have absolutely no interest in watching this Columbus train wreck.

Aren't they in the Big East? They should have waited for the Big 12 to add them, Rice, Houston, Boise, and Texas @ San Antonio once they need to replace A&M, Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Missouri. Or maybe they can form a completely new conference aand call it the Big Mutt or the Big Miscellaneous.

Big East in 2012. At which point Buddha's post will still apply....MWC to Big East is almost a lateral move!

Auburn is in a tight one against Utah St. Right now that is about the only good game on right now.

Ohio St. looks very meh. Yes, they are up 21 at half, but they don't look as athletic as past seasons. It helps that Akron is terrible.

Great start to the hoke era. 15 plays, 74 yards, 7:11 off the clock, and WMU leads 7-0.

I think it's been alright.

Where the hell is ray lewis when you need him...

Oh, and I don't think Ray Lewis is coming, though Brandon Herron is playing today :bandit:

ND is going down. I love it. I love it so much.

Kelly is a first class jerk on the sidelines. I've met several guys who played for him and it's no wonder they have little to say when asked about him.

I was going to say that they play four qtrs not one drive, but that wouldn't be correct.
