Pistons Offseason

Old article about Ken Catanella from Henry Abbott. Good read, seems like he is one of Frank's guys. Talks about how scouting and statistics go hand in hand. Makes me feel better about Dumars as the GM, when they spent money on the front office and he had good people around him he was able to win the most improbable title in recent memory.

Amnesty Clause: It could make sense to hold onto for a year, only if Joe is convinced he can move someone via trade, otherwise someone needs to be off the books.....In the next two weeks I want to atleast have an idea of what Joe is doing and what direction he is heading, he has no plan since he traded for Rasheed..... If Joe doesn't turn it around soon get him out of there.

Wasn't making big splash free agent signings trying to turn things around quickly what got Joe into to trouble in the first place. I don't need a quick turn around I just want to see good sound moves that don't sacrifice the ability to be competitive in the future.

You can Amnesty one player who was signed to a contract BEFORE the lockout in any of the future seasons. Only a one time use, but doesn't have to be done this season.

Sorry, didn't mean to delete the question about the amnesty clause. So, it only has to be used in the timeframe of the new CBA, not this year, in two years, etc?

Correct. But no new contracts can be included. So really our only candidates are Ben Gordon, Rip and CV. Rip only one year left on his deal after this year.

Good article explaining amnesty. One more thing to add is it cant be used on a player acquired in a trade.

Didn't really mind the T-Mac situation regardless of what happened, but figured he would move on to a better team. He showed that he could stay healthy (for the most part), and play somewhere around 20 minutes a game, as well as handle the ball at the point if need be. Good luck to him in Atlanta.

Teams have been talking to players for a few days now, and not a whisper about Stuckey. Not from other teams or the Pistons. Seems we should at least be hearing some rumors soon.

Is it possible the only new face on this year's team will be Brandon Knight? If so is it possible that we might be the worst team in the Eastern Conference?

Thats actually pretty good for Jerebko. I was thinking more around $5M a year. His injury probably saved the Pistons a lot of money.

Definitely have the worst roster.

Sweet deal on Jerebko. That's a solid price even if he doesn't improve one bit from what we saw before his injury.

So what does the roster look like?

Starters:

G Ben Gordon (6'3")

G Rodney Stuckey (6'5")

F Tayshaun Prince (6'9")

F Jonas Jerebko (6'10")

C Greg Monroe (6'11")

Off the bench:

G Will Bynum

G Brandon Knight

F Charlie Villanueva

F Austin Daye

F Jason Maxiell

C Ben Wallace

Is Chris Wilcox still on the team? The starters don't look too bad. Off chance for a 30 win team (30-36)?
