2011 Bold ***** Predictions

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this has been done before (my apoligies if so), but I think the the eve of spring training games is the perfect time to make some bold predictions for the 2011 season.

While we're at it, we might as well post our meaningless spring training prediction and our more than likely way off season prediction

I'll start us off...

2011 Bold Prediction: Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer, and Rick Porcello will combine for at least 55 wins

That would need them to each average 17 or 18 wins

More in depth I would boldly predict..

Verlander: 22 wins

Scherzer: 19 wins

Porcello: 17 wins

Yes it would be awesome... Yes it is unlikely... Yes it is bold.

Spring Training Prediction: 21-14; 4th in Grapefruit

Season Prediction: 92-70; ALDS

What's yours?

mr0zip0 - nice post .... too bad no one took it seriously, though we're all funny though, right :bandit:

Anyway, to play along with the thread I opened ...... no one made me!

I'll go with: Max Scherzer repeats his second half the entire year, wins 20 games, ERA around 2.5, and wins Cy Young.

Cabrera wins Comeback Player of the Year because he shirks off the DUI and hits 48 homers.
He hits 48, I can forgive a few more non violent indiscretions.

Guillen is hurt running in the outfield during warmups. Sizemore wins second base job and bats .275/.340/.400.

Cabrera hits .340 with 40 home runs. Fans outside of Detroit make fun of him all year long.

Rick Porcello 6.5 k/9 3.75 ERA.

Cabrera slumps and Tigers lose seven of ten after allstar break to fall out of first. Ten different Trade Cabrera threads are started. People who haven't posted all year come back to slam Dumbrowski.

Phil Coke 14 wins 3.50 ERA 4.75 FIP, sparks huge saber debate. Eric goes off on a rant. Poster gets banned for having four screen names.

Tigers go 87-75 to finish in first place tie with Twins. Tigers win game 163 in 16 innings on Timo Perez walk off.

None of these things are bold ***** predictions.

Has there been a sabermetric study as to which of the multiple screen names used by one poster was better than the others? That might be fodder for a good debate.
