I like the Wilcox/Monroe combo. Although I am a bit afraid he will play himself into an extension. Not sure he should be brought back with all of the injury problems.

Lineup Changes

The interesting thing here is that TMac will be starting at PG, not SG. Rodney will be starting at SG, although they'll share some ball-handling duties. I assume they'll cross-match on defense just like Tmac and BG did.

Overall, it's an interesting idea to test out. And BG's been struggling as a starter anyway.

Wilcox and Monroe as the starting bigs gives you some nice size and rebounding with two guys who stick to their roles and don't try to wander out of the paint.

BG, Daye, and CV off the bench is some serious offense...but that trio might be the worst defensive bunch in the league.

Also, where does that leave Rip? Yeah, he might be traded soon - and maybe that's why they're trying this out - but for now I wonder how his minutes will manifest.

The article declares positively that the switch the SG will allow Stuckey to be more aggressive slashing to the hoop.

Because as a PG, he was thinking pass too much? It's amazing how badly Kuester/Dumars have ruined Ben Gordon. We are talking about a guy who had taken difficult shots, and did it at a 45% clip, to the tune of 20 pts a game. Games where he would heat up and hit 9/9 3's amd singlehandedly win games. And these guys get next to nothing from him. Kue is still running his Lebron offense, but with no superstar. How about you call a play with movement? Not look around the lineup for a perceived match-up advantage and run Iso's ALL GAME LONG.

Ben Gordon is WORTHLESS. That is all.

Nah, he's just crazy streaky. When he is going bad he is a turnover machine, when he is going good he hits every shot.

Is it still too late to include Stuckey in the Melo trade?

Yeah, we'll give you Rip, but you have to take Stuckey too! Please! PLEASE!

This must be Monroes 4th straight double-double. Vincent Goodwill just tweeted that Terry Tyler was the last Piston rookie to do that.

He's my Adopt-A-Piston so I feel the need to say a few words. He had a decent game tonight, but bottom line, we still lost. We took a 14 point lead & ended up giving up an 18-5 run, which probably got inflated even more but that's the last I heard while at work, and to top it all off, we lost by 8.

Funniest thing about tonights game for me. The guy I was working with said something like, I haven't heard Zach Randolph mentioned at all tonight, is he playing? Yeah, he was playing alright.....34 points & 17 rebounds.

Nothing leaked yet, Hamilton hasn't played, trade gone down?

From my understanding, any trade wouldn't officially go down until the morning anyways at this point, but from the latest rumblings, I'm unfortunately not even holding my breath with this trade anymore.

Pistons guard Richard Hamilton surprised he didn't play in loss to Grizzlies

Read more: Pistons guard Richard Hamilton surprised he didn't play in loss to Grizzlies

Pistons coach John Kuester shook up his lineup Wednesday night. What had most people puzzled afterward was not who started or came off the bench, but who didn't play.

Richard Hamilton, who has been the subject of trade talk over the past week, didn't play in a 107-99 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies at the Palace.

"We shortened the rotation and changed the lineup," Kuester said when asked why Hamilton did not play. "That was it."

Should anything more be read into why Hamilton didn't play?

"No," Kuester said. "No, don't even read into it."

Of course, one searches to read something into it when Hamilton stated afterward that nobody told him ahead of time that he wouldn't be playing.

"I came to the game tonight with my same routine that I was going to play," he said. "Ain't nobody warn me, tell me anything. I just came out ready to play the game.

"I was definitely surprised, you know? Do I think it was a level of disrespect or unfair or anything like that? I'll leave that to ya'll, you know?"

Hamilton admitted it was tough to be in the situation he was in.

"When you're not playing, it's like, what did I do?" Hamilton said. "I can't control my playing time. I can't control what happens. The only thing I can do is continue to do what I do, and that's try to get myself, ready to play basketball."

Hamilton said if he wanted to play Wednesday, he couldn't control that.

"I was always happy here," Hamilton said. "My thing was just I wanted to play basketball."

Does he want a change?

"Tonight was a different situation," Hamilton said. "This is probably the first time in my career when I put on a jersey that I didn't play.

"I really can't answer that right now. As long as I go out and put that jersey on, I'm going to go out and play hard and be ready when my number's called."

With Hamilton on the bench, Kuester went with Tracy McGrady and Rodney Stuckey as his starting backcourt, along with Tayshaun Prince, Greg Monroe and Chris Wilcox up front.

Ben Gordon came off the bench to score a team-high 25 points -- all in the second half. McGrady scored 16 points with six rebounds, four assists and two turnovers. Stuckey scored 15 points on 5-for-15 shooting with seven rebounds, six assists and four turnovers.

"I thought they did a nice job," Kuester said of his starters. "We're searching to find a group that can get the minutes and get the job done. Everyone has gotten a chance this season."

Things will get ugly if Joe D does not trade Hamilton ASAP. Rip clearly wants out, Joe D wants him out and Kuester wants him out. I would hate to see Hamilton's time in Detroit come to end with squabbles and an Iverson like end. The guy gave his all during the years we had our title runs and has been pretty quiet through the troubles this team has had so far. No, he hasn't been a leader as he should...but he was also not a crybaby diva like a lot of players in his position would have been.

I will take his limits, because I think he is showing he is a better big man than anyone else on this roster. Hope to see him progress through the season...he is one of the few bright spots this season.

Wow...Wilcox was a +13 last night. Monroe and Prince were even up...I like that front line. All three of them can run the floor and rebound. Tay and Monroe can actually move the ball too.

Will the new owner fire Dumars? Any objective basketball person has to see just how bad of a job Joe did. He freed up all that cap space to sign two bench players, they have ruined Gordon and Charlie is still playing pick up ball.

It makes me sick watching this team, Kuester has no business being a head coach, no wonder no one gave him a shot, he just has no clue. The rip thing from last night was awful. It amazes me how much Kuester believes Stuckey is a good player, he cant help his teammates and he cant finish.

Trade Rip, get the new owner and fire Dumars and Kuester. I am sure someone would take a shot at Ben Gordon. This is just disgusting now. Joe has ruined this team.

I didn't get to the game until the second half. Even Blaha and Kelser were talking trade with Hamilton on the bench.

I know it's the thing to do - bag on Q. I don't hate him or like him. I just have neutral thoughts about him. But I see people bag on him for this and that lineup and I look and wonder "What the heck do people want him to do." You have this guy taking this night off. There isn't a PG on the team, but you do have a lot of selfish 2-like players on the team. You have the old players that you question their motivation but you look at your younger players and question if they have the desire as well. You have young players you want to play, but you also want them to earn that PT. You have guys that can score, but may rank as some of the weakest defenders in the NBA, and a starting PF that may be the worst rebounder at his position as a starter in the last 10 years. Your closest thing to a PG is a broken down player who isn't a PG.

I think the third quarters tell it all. You get teams that just kind of go through the motions against the Pistons for a half. Maybe the Pistons show a bit of fire during the first half as well, who knows. But then when you get to the second half and the other team starts realizing "it's time to take this a bit seriously" and they beat the Pistons bad - beat them like a drum. Sure Q can take some of the blame - maybe the team isn't making adjustments. But, generally it's just a case of five blah starters that don't make sense together vs. a starting five that, even if not very good, probably at least makes more sense than the Pistons. And then you get what we had last night time and time again.

It's just a bad team made much worse because of chemistry issues and then a lackadasical attitude that's been allowed to live in the Palace for about three years now. And that team is the image of what its GM created. He paid good money for the 6-11 guy that wants to play at least 15 feet away from the basket.

Sure, Q takes some of the blame, but generally this is just a garbage team with a garbage attitude with pieces that just don't make sense when put together on the court. No one is going to succeed with this crap.
