Who do we get now? The Big Guns are gone

Recommended Posts

Does this really exist?

Yes. I will post it in Michigan football 2010 thread so it doesn't clutter up the tigers board. You can look for it there.

I guess I am in the minority when it comes to threads. I wish more people would start them. The uninteresting or dumb ones would just fade away.

Usually the threads get so big that when you go into them, they've turned into a saber v non-saber pissing match.

The only threads I don't miss are the annoying lineup ones that Blue loved so much.

Plus, I really find the cat pictures amusing.

+1 Highly accurate assessment of the Status Quo.

If there was no thread policing on a big forum like this and people just started threads whenever they wanted, we'd probably end up with a 100 new threads every day. I think that would be worse than what we have now.

Yes we got Victor, but Crawford and Worth are gone. What's the chance we get Maggs and make a trade for someone? Who's left to get? We need another power hitter. Any thoughts

Wait, Danny Worth's gone???

Dombrowski....do something! You see what our lack of activity at the winter meetings has reduced MTS to?

We need a transaction down there...something...anything....or nothing.

Remember 2005 when we had moderators that would just politely merge these? That was nice. Now when you ask a favor they just giggle and say they dont feel like doing it.

As Imminent said, all of this would go away if they would just sign someone new! We need action. I think we're all getting a big case of Tigers blue balls.

Can't get blue balls whilst you are in a Circle J, though.

We hope to god we get Maggs and we are almost assuredly done. I can't imagine us making a big trade for anyone and we aren't going to match Lee's offers. The only thing we need is a big bat in RF, if it isn't Maggs, then we probably just plain don't get one. Maybe JD Drew with Boston eating his contract or something weak like that.

I'm glad they missed out on Werth and Crawford, I think both teams will regret those contracts earlier than expected. The big issue is how much those contracts will cost the Tigers when they try to get Mags back.

highly doubt Crawford's will be regretted. Werth's maybe, but even then Washington wouldn't look back in history and take it back, ya know?

I think Crawford's will be regretted. They practically negate his defense by putting him in left, if they do, and I'm not sure he goes back on balls well enough to play center there. He becomes a mostly-offensive player, that is decent but not amazing. I don't really get this move by Boston, at this price anyhow. He'd be much more valuable in a park like Comerica.

I don't konw, Crawford is one of the best athletes to hit MLB in a long time, maybe since Winfield. He could have been a top player in college in either basketball, football or baseball(2nd round pick). Truly great athletes, like a Derek Jeter or something, age better than any other type of player.

I do agree that he should NOT play LF in Fenway. I see Ells being dealt and Crawford in center where his D is valuable. Put Drew,Cameron or Kalish in LF.

Also, he is behind only like Pujols,Mauer and a few others, ahead of gusy like AGonz and Cabrera, for WAR the last few years. Remember too, the Sox wanted him a lot more for his bat than his legs. Losing a little speed and not stealing as much anymore is no big deal to them.

I really don't think so, Lee, and the statement that the utterly stoopid ones and the irrelevant ones will just fade away is very true. I've seen it in other forums on other sports sites.

Could it be possible that Ep saw it more important to make Crawford a non-Yankee and take what he gets out of him?? Hmmm......

I agree. We should support a free-market for threads. The good ones will prosper. The bad ones will move on or be overrun by amusing cats.

Sir, if you and your laissez-faire extremists have your way you are likely to get us into a major thread depression. Oh Yes. First would come the heady days, profitable posting everywhere. But then the inevitable thread boom and bust cycle would blow up on us all, leaving underemployed threads lining up at Yoda's and Oblong's user pages just hoping for a weekly bump to stay alive. No sir, it wouldn't be a pretty site.

:wink::wink:

the tricky part with these contracts are, it's one way or the other, in 6 years Crawford will either be vastly underpayed (Like Cabrera is now) or vastly overpayed if they fall off like Guillen. I believe Washington's will be the worst of the 2 in seven years, Crawford is an excellent defender and has as much speed as anyone.

I've seen the opposite happen on other sites, which is why I am now here. I guess it depends on what site you've seen.
