Ryan Raburn as a catcher?

Recommended Posts

It's always fun to play a historical OOTP league and when you are drafting guys it's the position they were drafted at and not the one that they eventually made their mark playing. Like Cecil Fielder actually was drafted as a Third Baseman

Why don't we just sign/trade for a real catcher? Even easier!

nah... that won't work, remember how it turned out last time.

I do like the out of the box thinking though.

What a terrible idea. And a worse article.

I agree

So, if he wants to stay happy, here's what the Tigers tell Peralta: "OK, you want your money? We'll pick up the option and give you a three-year extension. But you gotta learn how to catch. You have the winter to learn how. Good luck, Jhonny."

Was that a joke or something...

my crystal ball told me that Victor Martinez will be the Tigers starting catcher in 2011 and for the next 3 seasons to follow.

Did you know ... Dale Murphy was drafted as a catcher. He struggled badly there, was moved to CF, and the rest ... is history!

Can we smash that crystal ball please?

Was they? How about the tactical point I was making? Is playing a hitter out of position at catcher, provided that he's been trained as a contingency catcher, a bad idea in games where a large comeback is needed? I still haven't heard this directly addressed by anybody.

yes..

whats out of hand 8 runs 10 runs 12 runs 144 runs..kind of open ended ..

But if we need to worry about 4X a year allowing an inferior, fielder to play catcher..I could think of more important things to worry about.

Why not just use a catcher to catch? Seems reasonable. Raburn would be to catching as Lindsey Lohan is to life, not really worth it.

And what was with the MLIVE article suggesting Peralta should catch? Come on.
