Say Michigan got a 2nd MLB team...

Who would you probably root for if Michigan got a 2nd MLB team?

I kinda doubt that, just saying... lol jk...

What if they were the Las Vegas Tigers. Would you still root for them?

Nope. That's why I made a point of saying Detroit Tigers. Do the Dodgers still have fans in Brooklyn?

Yes they do. A much older generation though. My grandfather is 80 and watched the Dodgers as a kid in Brooklyn, where he is from, and to this day he still follows the Dodgers. Not as close as the home town Marlins (he is in Ft Lauderdale now), but he still knows the players and follows them in the standings. Once a Bum ALWAYS a Bum.

I would have mixed feelings about this.:ponder:

Not really "on topic" but rather than starting a new thread, Grand Rapids really is worthy of a AAA franchise, wouldn't be the Tigers but maybe Cubs?

I doubt that would happen unless the Whitecaps moved and a AAA team took their place, similar to how we lost our AA team and got a A team (the Tigers replacing the SF affiliated Defenders) in Connecticut.

Actually, what I am hoping for is a Women's Naked Lacrosse Team.

Now there's a league sport that would be entertaining !

I've often wondered... on the west side of the state (GR, K'zoo, etc.), what's the split between Tiger fans and Cub (or Chisox) fans?

Or maybe even Brewers?

Grand Rapids and Holland are mostly Tiger fans. Once you get south of Holland they turn into Cubs fans.

You'll see a smattering of White Sox fans but, really, how can anyone really be a White Sox fan?

Maybe the Mixed Martial Arts fighter you root for breaks his leg?

Didn't Fetzer own a radio station in KAZOO that broadcast the Tigers there for many yrs? So at least there used to be Tiger fans in SW MI

That makes sense.

Last year I was in South Haven for Labor Day weekend. One day there I went into a local establishment for liquid refreshment and to see how the Tigers were doing (this is when we were still something like 7 games ahead of Minnesota), and was astonished to see that the Tiger game was only being shown on one TV screen, while a Cub game was on three of them.

the case study of this experiment is the houston texans.

everyone likes the texans, sure. but the cowboys have the tradition. the cowboys are still the team everyone follows. even in houston. its a nice little NFC/AFC combo. it'd be awesome to see an NL team in grand rapids. (get to go to a ball park without being hassled by twelve different bums in and out)
