RedRamage 125 Posted August 25, 2010 So I got my hands on some tickets for this Saturday's preseason game. Anyone have suggestions for good parking locations? I've used Grand Circus Park when I've gone to Tiger's games in the past but I thought I remember that that garage closes relatively early in the evening. As I'll probably be leaving the game between 9 and 10 at night, I'd really like to be sure that I can get my car out. Am I just mis-remembering? Anyone have any suggestions other than Grand Circus? cruzer1 176 Posted August 25, 2010 (edited) Be prepared to pay 50 bucks. Any better, and you did well. The longer the walk, the cheaper the price. Edited August 25, 2010 by cruzer1
Vonlenska 18 Posted August 25, 2010 Right off 75 there's a church parking lot I used to go to. 10 bucks, about a 10 minute walk to the stadium.
cruzer1 176 Posted August 25, 2010 Ten bucks for a Tiger game, maybe. Not for a Lion game.
Vonlenska 18 Posted August 25, 2010 The most I've paid for a Lions game parking was 20 bucks, and that was closer to the stadium. When my friend drove, it was 40 or 45 for the parking garage.
cruzer1 176 Posted August 25, 2010 I used to pay 20 bucks back at the Silverdome, but Ford Field is another animal.
RedRamage 125 Posted August 25, 2010 Anyone try parking around some of the other ramps and use the People Mover? Looking around places like Cobo Roof Deck, which according to this site has a maximum daily rate of $10. But I don't know if that max rate does include "special events." straight kays 10 Posted August 25, 2010 I usually park right next to Jacoby's on Brush st...cost for tigers during the week is usually 5-10, depending on the visiting team...Lions maybe slightly more but much cheaper than anything within two blocks of teh stadium...plus you can stoll up Brush and grab a beer or burger at a number of places. Biff Mayhem 588 Posted August 25, 2010 I still find it hard to believe that anyone is interested in going to see a Lions game.
slim pickens 11 Posted August 25, 2010 every lions game I go to we usually drop $20. Like said, about a 10 minute walk.

Biff Mayhem 588 Posted August 25, 2010 I am sure you went to Tiger games before 2006Yes I did. However Mike Illitch wasn't spitting in the fans' faces so I fail to see how this relates.
slim pickens 11 Posted August 25, 2010 Yes I did. However Mike Illitch wasn't spitting in the fans' faces so I fail to see how this relates.come on now. Because the Lions are losing we get spit in the face by Ford? Illitch owned the team since '92 and lost every year to '06, so we got spit on from him as well then. RedRamage 125 Posted August 25, 2010 Yes I did. However Mike Illitch wasn't spitting in the fans' faces so I fail to see how this relates. If I recall, back in the day, many people felt Ilitch was a horrible owner who was only concerned with the RedWings and wasn't willing to spend on the Tigers at all. I remember a number of calls for Ilitch to sell the team as it was clear he wasn't interested in making them a winner. That said, I'm paying next to nothing for the tickets and plan to buy nothing at the stadium, so I'm not really doing squat to benefit Mr. Ford. Shinzaki 10 Posted August 25, 2010 Mr I...maybe not...but Atanis Ilitch hocked a loogie onto my shin at a Wings game once...

I remember a number of calls for Ilitch to sell the team as it was clear he wasn't interested in making them a winner. Those people were delusional. Right choice or not, Randy Smith was touted as the next big thing in the GM world. Illitch hired him, spent money, and even offered that huge contract to JuanGone.Illitch made some bad choices and kept trying to correct them. Smith was shown the door. A proven GM was brought in. William Clay Ford offered Millen a five year extension when there was absolutely no support for Millen. When the fans protested he had them kicked out of the games. THAT is spitting in the fans' faces.
DTroppens 42 Posted August 25, 2010 Go to the parking garage near the DTE building (third Street). It's supervised and it's 100 percent free. I park there for every Lions and Tigers game. It's about a mile walk, but you won't be the only one doing it. Well, maybe for a preseason game you will. But, during the season, there will be a decent handful of people doing exactly the same thing. I just did a google search on how far it is - .9 miles, just under a mile. There's also parking spaces on the side of the road that I have used close to that same spot. Do a search on 524 Bagley Street and you'll see the spot I'm talking about. I've gotten parking spaces there as late as 50 minutes before game time. That was my prime Lions' spot until I just said screw it and kept parking in the casino parking lot. There will be about 10 down a three-block stretch. Some are always filled. Some are never filled. Even for two Thanksgiving games I was able to get a spot there. This is about the same distance.

I've never purchased any souveniers at the game, minus a program for the last game at the Silverdome. And to top it off, I get the designated driver free drink before every game. Sometimes finding something that's not carbonated is a challenge, but I do that as well. I was a season ticket holder for about 22-25 years before dropping the tickets. Well, some years I wasn't a season ticket holder but we did go to every home game. From about 1993 to 2008. I've never paid for parking at Ford Field or in a Silverdome lot.I can honestly say beyond the ticket prices for my tickets, the Lions have gotten probably as little additional money from me over the years from me being at the game than any other fan they've ever had for a 5+ year period that has gone to at least 40 home games. JayVee 10 Posted August 25, 2010 Can you not park on the street outside Comerica anymore? Every Tiger game I've been to (all pre-2006) at Comerica, I was able to park on the street for free about 4-5 blocks from the stadium...

That's where my Dad parks when he drives and we go to the games. I don't know the roads, but there are quite a few spots there. For a preseason game, you may be okay there. I've never paid more than $10 to park for a Lions game.Park in the Compuware garage... It's $10 and they have a shuttle which will drop you off and pick you up. Or you can walk if you choose... it's not that far.

dadair6 10 Posted August 26, 2010 We've parked at COBO and taken the people mover. It was $10 and the walk from the Broadway station to the stadium was only a few blocks.
