NOTE: I did some light reading on this team before doing this...

I actually like MSU's football team, their QB <-- he's impressive, though I really like their schedule.

Western Michigan - W

Florida Atlantic - W

Notre Dame - W .. I am not impressed with Notre Dame!

Northern Colorado - W

Wisconsin - L .. but it'll be close, and I'll even call it'll go to OT!

@ Michigan - L .. this is their first road game, and I think they'll be coming off a heartbreaking loss

Illinois - W

@ Northwestern - W

@ Iowa - L

Minnesota - W

Purdue - L

@ Penn State W

8-4 .. easy, which is pretty good. The two biggest swing games for me are UM and Purdue.

But 8 wins, either way, should also get you guys a nice Bowl Game.

My overall on this team .. MSU has a decent team, a joke for an OOC schedule + no Ohio State = 8 wins.

Why do people think Notre Dame is going to be so good .. honestly, I just don't get it.

Because their new coach is really good.

Because their new coach is really good.

Okay. But does that automatically mean he'll walk in and take the mess that is Notre Dame, minus their starting QB, and hit the ground winning? It's not going to happen. Next year, if he fixes enough this season .. lets talk.

But they won't win much this year!

You may be right of course. He didn't immediately turn things around at CMU but his success here at UC came very quickly and he's got lots of talent on offense (when he came to UC he inherited a very good defense and an offense that was a mess). I'm not saying he's going to win a NC this year or anything like that, but it wouldn't surprise me to see ND start 4-0 and finish with 8 or so wins this year (anything less than 6 wins would be a disappointment I think).

He's got a better QB at ND right now than he had at any time during his three years at UC. The lack of depth at the position is a big problem though and his o-line does not fit well with his general offensive scheme. The defensive problems they had last year will look even worse in his up-tempo system because of the increased number of possessions.

6 wins (+/- 1 win)

ND game: likely still up for grabs, heading into the 4th

UM game: likely still up for grabs, heading into the 4th

With the schedule MSU has, their weak OCC schedule + NO OHIO STATE (the best team in the B10), that equals 8 wins .. easy. To say this team could possibly lose 7 is one thing, but less than that .. 6-6, is wrong.

Finally, a manageable OOC schedule! I still think that its smart to schedule tomato cans, and with ND on the schedule, we will always have a tougher OOC schedule than most other BCS teams, but I can't deny that I'm a bit excited to think about Bama coming into Spartan Stadium in a few years too...but I digress. Until then, we need to take advantage of this opportunity.

Don't leave Michigan until the 23rd of October. Awesome.

With a few things falling into place and a well-timed upset, this is entirely possible! Looking forward to how things play out. Hopefully this is the year we start winning more of those close games, seems like we always end up on the wrong end of those with a few exceptions of course.

8-4(4-4), The non conference schedule is a joke, Notre Dame will be improved under Kelly but not much yet. 8-4 should make Spartan fans happy.

8-4 4-4 in conference..Cousins still makes me nervous late in games, the defense makes me nervous but has a lot of upside..the kids on D..excite me..Norman, Bullough, Worthy, Gholston..Adams, Jones.

One surprise win, and it would be a great year..

10-2... I am full on cornbread. If our OL can pan out at all, we should be great offensively. On D, our team speed will make a lot of teams make mistakes. Rucker showed glimpses of getting it last year and we were all clamoring for Johnny Adams to start last year when he RS'd. Our largest question mark is Safety and FGs... our punter is legit.

09/04/10vs. Western Michigan 40-14

09/11/10vs. Florida Atlantic (Ford Field) 38-13

09/18/10vs. Notre Dame 33-17

09/25/10s. Northern Colorado Lot to a little...

10/02/10vs. Wisconsin Late loss on par with '09 Iowa

10/09/10at Michigan Late DRob pick clinches win

10/16/10vs. Illinois (Homecoming)Is Zook still there?

10/23/10at Northwestern MSU starts to think big...

10/30/10at Iowa Iowa says don't...28-17

11/06/10vs. Minnesota 31-13, Gophers yearn for Mase

11/20/10vs. Purdue shootout goes MSU again 38-35

11/27/10at Penn State Another beatdown at the Beav, 35-17

I'm not happy with that prediction, as I just don't see the offensive line being good enough to legitimately justify 9 wins (even with that non-con and no OSU). I'll find another loss as the season approaches. Probably UM or ND.

09/04/10 vs. Western Michigan - Nice easy win to open the season. Hope Caper and Baker both have nice days, and lots of PT for Mr. Gholston.

09/11/10 vs. Florida Atlantic (Ford Field) - Team starts to prepare for ND, and while I won't be able to take much from this game, hopefully the DL and DBs begin to give me some false hope.

09/18/10 vs. Notre Dame 8:00 p.m. ET - Spartan Stadium is going to be rocking!! After an emotional game against Michigan, and a very young team (first year starting QB) coming into EL for an 8pm tilt as their first road game...gotta take the Spartans in this one.

09/25/10 vs. Northern Colorado - Time to get healthy.

10/02/10 vs. Wisconsin - Wisconsin's OL is absolutely disgusting (in a very good sort of way). John Clay might rush for 250 yards.

10/09/10 at Michigan - After facing the Wisconsin OL and power rushing game, playing Michigan will be like taking the donut off the bat. This game will be within one score at the end, but what kind of a Spartan would I be if I didn't pick MSU?

10/16/10 vs. Illinois (Homecoming) 2:00 p.m. ET - Illinois played much better against us in the 2nd half of the game last year, but with Zooker potentially gone by the time of the game (for all intents and purposes), I have to pick MSU. But this would be the typical "SOS" game of the year, too. That makes it one of the hardest games for me to pick.

10/23/10 at Northwestern - Games against NU have been absolute battles for the majority of the past decade. I like MSU in this one, just don't think NU's offense will be nearly as prolific as years past.

10/30/10 at Iowa - This gets my default prediction, ala playing Michigan prior to 2008: We're not going into Iowa City and winning, unless I first see it with my own eyes.

11/06/10 vs. Minnesota - Minnesota is not a good team right now.

11/20/10 vs. Purdue - Game is at home, and following a bye week for the Spartans, so I like us in this one. I think the late season bye will be huge in preparation for this game.

11/27/10 at Penn State - See: Iowa.

Obviously, to me, the crucial games are Wisconsin and Michigan. Need at least a split there, as I feel a pair of losses will put us on pace for a repeat of last season. Having them back to back, to start the big ten season, give them the significance they have, IMO.

Hard to believe we had a Sophomore QB last year (splitting time), and two Freshmen RBs, and still had one of the best offenses in the Big Ten. Excited to see how this season unfolds. Hopefully Johnny Adams can pick up where he left off two seasons ago, and no Sophomore slump for Jerel Worthy. Our kicking game is going to give me an ulcer, and the OL is the big unknown, but that just adds to the excitement, right?! :pirate:

Nice OOC schedule, last year of no OSU (or Nebraska), so we need to take advantage. 9-3 record.

09/04/10 vs. Western Michigan--Should be an easy win right out of the gate, 34-13

09/11/10 vs. Florida Atlantic (Ford Field)--see the 9/4 game, 31-10

09/18/10 vs. Notre Dame 8:00 p.m. ET--With this being a night game in EL, I can't see ND going on the road for the 1st time, with a new QB, and winning, 27-17

09/25/10 vs. Northern Colorado--who the hell made this schedule? 38-13

10/02/10 vs. Wisconsin--Will be close for about 3 quarters, but Wiscy will wear Sparty down, 31-20

10/09/10 at Michigan--little brother strikes again, 27-20

10/16/10 vs. Illinois (Homecoming)2:00 p.m. ET, Illinois sucks, 31-17

10/23/10 at Northwestern--I have a feeling about this game, and think NW may pull this one off, but for now I'll give Sparty the nod, 23-20

10/30/10 at Iowa--battle for the Capital One bowl goes to Iowa, 24-16

11/06/10 vs. Minnesota--Minnesota blows, 33-17

11/20/10 vs. Purdue--another game I have a feeling about, but Sparty gets the nod for now due to it being a home game, 28-21

11/27/10 at Penn State--GrandPa will retire after winning this game, 27-23

I've got them, right now, at 9-3 due to a very favorable schedule. There are 2 games that I feel could go either way, so best case is 9-3, worst is 7-5, and I think they'll make the Outback Bowl, maybe the Alamo Bowl (is that for the 4th place team? them and PSU will battle that out)

10-2 (6-2)

This a talented team with a very manageable schedule. The Whisky and Iowa games will be huge. It's not out of the question that they'll go into Beaver Stadium with the chance to play their way into the Rose Bowl.
