Upcoming signings

Totally agree. They aren't always going to be guys we all need. The only thing I would say about the 84 guys is it would be nice to shake it up a bit- a chet lemon, a ruppert jones, a howard johnson, those type of guys. We've seen alot of Petry, Evans, Bergman, etc. I think most of us have most of these guys, but there are a few who haven't been around in quite a long time, so it would be good if they could bring in some of the ones in that we haven't seen much of. Obviously Trammell would be great, but he has a day job....

Is Wayne Krenchicki still around? Did he ever sign?

I know Mark just had Lemon with Brookens at Gibraltar 2 years ago and Chet was at Macomb Mall in 2009 (I remember the line) so we can probably wait a few years on Lemon coming back.

I asked him about Kuntz and Mark said he's asked numerous times but Rusty keeps saying his schedule won't work. (Mark did a couple of privates with him when he was in town).

Jones and Johnson were here for the 25th Reunion 2009 with the Midwest group and now that Johnson is coaching again-- off season only chance. Other than that most of the better names have been here recently.

Krenchicki is still around but wasn't on the 1984 Team

He does have a 1984 Topps card, but did not appear on the field in 1984.

Wayne signed for me in 1983 at the park, as did gibson and aurelio lopez. They set them up at tables in the concourse before the games. I remember they all wore their blue warmups. It's funny what you remember after 30 years....

I'm actually rooting for Johnson, Kuntz and Ruppert as they are the only three left that I've never caught up with. Trammell would be good too, but I'm not holding my breath. The diamondbacks actually have an open date on the 30th and they play in Pittsburgh the next day at 4pm. I'm wondering if the Tigers planned it that way so Tram and Gibby could make the reunion? Probably not enough time to get either of them for a signing, however....

I also remember that line in 2009 for lemon...it was hot and that was some old abandoned store in macomb mall. There was no air conditioning so they were pumping air with lousy fans. Very uncomfortable....I thought five years ago that place needed to meet the same fate as livonia mall....

Thanks. Not sure if you do TTM, but I did really well with Kuntz. I just sent it to KC and received 3/3 in a few weeks.

I would send to him, but the piece I've been working on is team signed and I just hate chancing that TTM. Took too much time to accumulate. But I may try sending a single item to him on your suggestion....thanks!

I remember at Old Tiger Stadium that they used to do the signings too. I went with my dad one year and we got Trammell and Sparky Anderson. They were signing in the lower deck in the right field corner. Was good times.

Other guys I would like to see, for personal selfish reasons, would be Champ Summers, John Wockenfuss, Steve Kemp, Jason Thompson, Milt May, Tom Veryzer, Ben Oglivie, Jim Slaton, Dan Schatzader etc. Some of the guys who played before the '84 champs. Tigers nonetheless. Decent players, but not pieces to our great teams.

I second you on every name you listed here.

Steve Kemp was just at Gibraltar Taylor a couple years ago. And unfortunately Champ Summers passed away in 2012.

I missed Kemp. Didn't know that Summers died. Took a look online, and you are correct...kidney cancer. Too bad.

Would still like to see some other, meaningful, names at the signings.

Still wrapping up details. But anyone up for Jurco Gustavsson and Ericsson?

Yes, yes, and yes. I just saw your FB page though. Opening Day is going to be tough.

Ya it's the only date before the playoffs that worked for the guys. We will have drop off and mail in for people who can't make it.

Jurco 15/20

Gust 20/25

Ericsson 20/25. Buy all three either way and get $5 off.

Chet Lemon is throwing out the first pitch on Opening Day. Someone please tell me that someone is bringing him in for a signing later on that day.

I see DC Sports is having a public signing w/ Kaline next month for 60/85/30. Does anyone know if it will be cheaper to get some things through DC Sports or at the National?

I would certainly think through DC. National prices have gotten pretty crazy.
