Just shredded my Tigerfest tix. I looked out the window earlier this morning, and resolved to go again only when the event moves inside--and resembles those of other teams (Bucs, Chisox, Twins, etc.). Kudos to those who brave the elements.

It's not even so much the weather. It's the fact that you don't know who you're even going to be able to get. Would I be willing to stand in this weather to get one of the big name stars? Well, I used to in my younger years. Then I realized that paying for the people I really wanted saved me time. I also got fewer colds. It's more expensive that way, no question. But knowing that a guy is showing up at DC or one of the other promoters, that it's indoors at a certain time, etc. is way more convenient than waiting in frigid wind chills for the mere chance to get a big name player....only to end up getting Andy Dirks and/or a coach or two. To me that's just a waste of time. Now if they did it indoors at a convention center (i.e., Suburban showplace)....nice, warm etc., that would be better. But they'd still have to commit to organizing it a bit better. Heck, charge a decent price for the higher end players, donate the money to the tiger foundation. They'd still draw big. I don't see why that's so hard to figure out.

The program is now on the Tigers website, and the following 40-man roster players are NOT listed for tomorrow:

Jose Alvarez

Miguel Cabrera

Ramon Cabrera

Phil Coke

Casey Crosby

Ian Kinsler

Jordan Lennerton

Francisco Martinez

Melvin Mercedes

Steven Moya

Jose Ortega

Max Scherzer

Eugenio Suarez

Jose Valdez

Justin Verlander

Perhaps our four biggest stars weren't there today, which is sad for us fans for whichever reason. What stunk is waiting in line only to get thru the hour wait to see only Rick Porcello or Andy Dirks sitting there by themselves or one time we waited an the reward was Mike Henneman and Darnell Coles.

Do you happen to know the pricing? The promoter of the Lakeland signing sent me a flyer in the mail with the times, but he didn't include any pricing.

I believe it is $15 on anything.

Ended up being $20 for the sig or $25 with all of the inscriptions. He talked very highly of you. :) It was fun to have some conversation with him and to hear some of the stories he and his promoter shared. His promoter really should have hit up fantasy camp, very few people up there knew about the signing which was only about 3 miles away.

Did he have much of a line?

Saw you with Denny in Kalamazoo, are you working with Denny and handling his Michigan appearances?

If someone could post who will be appearing at the VFW show next month, I'd appreciate it. Didn't need anything from the signers that were there today so I didn't go. Thanks.

No line at all, walked right up to the table. The show is extremely small and has very little promotion. None of the local collectors I talked to knew anything about the signing.

McClain is entertaining after you hear about his weight loss surgery.

Denny has lost 130 pounds, and counting. And he no longer drinks Pepsi!

To answer an earlier question, yes, I am helping him find shows to sign at. If anyone has a show in the Midwest looking for a top draw, send me a PM.

Fun Fact About Denny: Since the CY award began in 1956, only 9 pitchers have won both the CY and MVP award the same year; of the nine, three are Tigers, more than any other team: Hernandez, McLain, and Verlander. Of those nine, only five have won the CY on a unanimous vote by the baseball writers, including Denny and JV. Denny was also the first American Leaguer to accomplish this incredible feat (MVP plus a unanimous CY), which no National Leaguer has done since Gibson in 1968.

Someone posted the signers at VFW after the last show. Check earlier posts in this thread. It was two Detroit Lions. I think Greg Landry and some guy I never heard of.

Greg Landry and Levi Johnson were at last weekends show, they are looking for the March signers.
