$15 is too much for those guys, IMO. $10 each or 2 for $15 would be somewhat reasonable. $5 is the true value, but it has to be worth their time, certainly.

Compared to DC it's too cheap.

Just heard Jim Leyland has been added to the Canterbury show on Saturday June 22nd.

Not one of the better autographs you will find among managers, but interesting he's doing something. I don't recall him ever doing a public signing.

Don't want to be construed as the defender of DC again, but they are having Rondon for $20, so you can't say they don't play in the 'minor player' space. They've also had other players, including wings hall of famers, for very reasonable prices. So I'm not sure the comparison is quite valid in this case. I personally don't see how any of the players mentioned (Pena, Matt or Rondon) are worth much more than 5-10 each, but there does seem to be a baseline $15-20 minimum these days for anybody.

I recall Jim Leyland did a signing with FanaticU back in 2007. It was with all of his coaches minus VanSlyke. Obviously, 2006 and 2007 was a high watermark for current Tigers doing public signings. I had a conversation with somebody at Legends Sports and Games in Grand Rapids at this time and they looked into bringing in Leyland--there hang-up with bringing him in was he did it per piece and the minimum number of signatures was pretty high (at least for a Grand Rapids area signing). I'm sure he will do pretty well.

Rondon has been canceled since he returned to Toledo this week. DC announced they had an exclusive with him, I'm not sure if that precludes him from signing SS on baseballs or any other restrictions.

Stan Papi

Are you sure you don't work for them? A LOT of DEFENSE for them here, just wondering, small comments seem to send you off.

I don't see comparing Red Wings Hall of Famers to Current Tigers about "reasonable prices on other guys".

Not beating them up just stating opinions.

Really thought this place was for OPEN discussion-- didn't realize DC was protected from it.

Baseballman- I don't work for them. I am gainfully employed in an area far removed from retail. I am not personal friends with anyone that works there. I don't supply them, I don't rent to them. I don't sell them sharpies....I have no affiliation whatsoever, other than I think Steve and his staff are professional and respect the collector, which is alot more than I can say for many other promoters I've dealt with over the years. If I had to do a drop off, I'd trust them with any piece in my collection. I was merely pointing out that not all of their signings are ultra expensive. I wasn't attacking you, just stating a fact. They've had plenty of signings over the years at $25-35. Most people find that reasonable in today's market. If you want something ultra cheap, there are always free signings. The reality of the market today is that most players are at a certain baseline price level or they don't come in. Do I think DC has expensive signings? Sure they do. Cabrera is incredibly ridiculous. Gordie Howe is very pricey. But players of that stature get those prices- and much more- all around the country. So I don't see a point in attacking DC for charging market for a player. I also don't see a point in quibbling if they seem a couple bucks too high on a particular guy, because odds are, they're bringing a guy to my area that I may never see without them doing it. As I've stated before, they basically kept the hobby propped up around here during the downturn when Gibraltar pulled their signers and everybody else basically went into hiding. So I appreciate them for that and I'm a supporter of them continuing to do what they do because I enjoy the hobby. That's really all there is to my comments. Nothing more.

Doesn't seem to be any restrictions. He was signing SS baseballs, sometimes 3 or 4 at a time for people during spring training along with stacks of cards. Same exact signature he signed for DC. This was after he signed the exclusive and after they held their first signing with him. The only Tigers I've ever seen with restrictions was Verlander, although I'm not sure if that was contractual or his decision and Granderson. Grandy had a deal with a Tampa company for a while where he couldn't sign certain items and had to personalize sweet spot baseballs.

I'd be interested to see his "paid" signature. I've see some some excellent Leyland graphs that people have gotten on premium items downs here or items for the spring training auctions, but they are very few and far between. Might be worth it if he's giving a nice one.

Good info on Rondon. Thanks!

Yeah, I noticed they both had time with the Tigers, but I honestly had never heard of either of them. I hope Mark is successful--I want him to keep bringing in former Tigers (even if I don't need these two in particular).

Mr. Redmond is a very gracious signer TTM, sent me a several miscellaneous clippings about his career.

Maddox had a decent career and Redmond did very well in Minor League ball. I told Mark on Sunday it was good he was bringing in different guys. He made me laugh though, saying it doesn't matter who he brings in someone will complain for a multiple of reasons.

It made me think about these threads every time there is a signer listed ANYWHERE the posts come out---- it's Too High, been here a million times, need some hockey, how about the announcers, need some '68 or '84 guys, what about a Lion, never heard of him, need some Stanley Cup winners, who wants him, he signs through the mail, he just did a show, signs for free at the park, I get him all the time in spring training, etc, etc.

I guess he's right someone will complain no matter what.

I hope you didn't take my comment as a complaint. I legitimately needed to google these guys to figure out if they were former Tigers, Red Wings, Lions, etc. I collect mainly Tigers, but my needs are very limited right now (i.e. guys I need on ASG baseballs, game used bats, etc.).

DC Sports, FanaticU, Motown Sports Gallery, Legend's Sports & Games, Mark Dehem, etc. are never going to find a guy that everyone wants to see. I remember when Legend's announced their signing with Kirk Cousins (someone who I was hoping they would bring in), the first comment on their facebook announcing the signing was: What about bringing in Denard Robinson? Everyone is a critic. I'm sure there are a few guys on here that will welcome Maddox and Redmond and I can't remember them ever doing public signings.

I didn't take your comment as a complaint at all, just reflecting on these threads-where it all turns into complaints eventually.
