So he's embarrassed? injured? rude? all of the above???

I think he broke a finger.

I think the answer to #2 may have something to do with how quick that first signing sold out.

Barry Sanders just announced via Twitter that he has been added to the Gibraltar line-up on Saturday, December 17. He now joins former Lions Eric Hipple, Greg Landry and Luther Bradley. No word on pricing, but past events with Barry have been expensive.

Barry Sanders prices are on Gibraltar's site:

$99.00 - Flat (up to 11x14) - Advance Ticket

$129.00 - 16x20/Mini - Advance Ticket

$159.00 - Helmet/Football/Jersey/Litho/Art - Advance Ticket

$50.00 per inscription

It's high, but it's the exact same pricing as I've seen for him at other shows. I think that's about the best pricing as you will find for Barry signing.

That's in the ballpark of what he was in Chicago at the Mounted Memories show this past weekend. Except they were $20 cheaper for helmets, jerseys etc. Inscription charge was basically the same. You won't find him cheaper in my experience.

I agree, that is definitely the going rate for him. All of the modern superstar/HOF football players seem to go for a premium like Sanders.

Nothing is worse than Emmit Smith though. He was signing at the football HOF for something like $249 for flats. I'm sure there was at least one schmuck who paid that, though. Makes Barry look like a bargain.

I'm thinking about going to the Barry Sanders signing at Gibraltar. Do you think getting an advance ticket is necessary? If so, how does that work (is it mailed to me, or do I pick it up at the show, ect.)?

When I have purchased an advance ticket I picked it up at the show from the person selling the tickets. It works great if there is a big crowd and they have different lines based on ticket number, i.e. 1-50, 50-100, etc.

I'd buy one in advance if I were you. I bought some the day of for Lance Parrish and it was a nightmare. I waited in line to purchase/get autograph for about 2 hours.

Thank you for posting these small private signings. This is the sort of thing that is easy to miss. Also, I never knew the story about his 1986 Topps card, so I googled it and found this youtube video:

Doug Flynn Interview about Signing His 1986 Topps Card.AVI - YouTube

I'm glad he is doing it for a good cause/charity, but it is still a little irritating that he refuses to sign the card unless for a ridiculous amount of money.

Those Smith and Smith signings are nice - if the dates were between Xmas and NY, I'd think about driving over.

When I first read the Flynn info, I thought it said $40, which I would have done since that card has been impossible to get signed. But I don't think he'll get too many takers at $400 - just the really hardcore '86 set builders who are down to that last one. It is good that it's for a charity, but he would make more for the charity in volume if he'd drop the price under $100, at least.

I wonder if he'd sign a photo of the card or a custom '86 design card.
