What a responsibility, having the number one pick, perhaps I should consult with Martin Mayhew....Nah.

8 is my favorite number.

Plus he was a guest on our radio show twice during the finals and scored the next day each time.

With the first pick in the 2009-10 Adopt-A-Red Wing thread, Motor City Sonics selects....

JUSTIN ABDELKADER

Damn! I was hoping he'd still be there at #7. Good pick!

Could have gone for the superstar, but they don't need my guidance. This young man will probably spend half the season at Grand Rapids "marinating" as Babcock and Holland say, but with a lot of older forwards, they are going to need him and he is a guy that stirs things up. I still question the reasoning behind benching him after game 2 of the finals when he had scored in those first two games. They may not have been pretty goals, but sometimes you're charmed (sometimes you're snakebit). They should have kept him in the lineup.

Best of luck to all the Red Wings and all the Griffins. See ya soon in Detroit, Abs.

With the number 10 pick I will take a guy I was a bit critical of at times last year, not due to a lack of skill, but because I could tell that the game had yet to slow down for him. This should be a good year, and I'll root for him all the way. Especially since KleShreen sniped my top pick! :pirate:

We said anyone in the organization, right? My pick is Thomas McCollum. I'd love to see this kid play. The NHL Network had one Griffs game on last year so perhaps there's a chance to catch a glimpse.

thomas-mccollum.jpg

From Red Wings Central:

Red Wings Central prospects - Thomas McCollum

STRENGTHS

Known for his outstanding glove and sharp reflexes ... Positionally-sound ... Above-average size ... Leaves little to shoot at ... Butterfly style ... Competitive ... Tracks pucks well through traffic ... Has an air of confidence and calm in the net.

WEAKNESSES

Struggles when forced to make athletic, acrobatic stops ... Puck-handling needs work.

PROJECTION

McCollum is arguably the best goaltending prospect the Red Wings have had in years, and he'll definitely give Jimmy Howard a run for his money in the next few seasons. Because of his late birthdate, the Red Wings have the option of putting McCollum in the American Hockey League in 2009-10, and they've already stated their intention to do so. If everything goes according to plan, expect to see McCollum splitting time with Daniel Larsson in Grand Rapids.

Ville was my Adopt-A-Red Wing last year, so please take good care of him.

Two days and no picks?

There is a 24 hour "on the clock timer" that allows the next person to draft after a full 24 hour period.

By my calculations,

13.) detroitdan

14.) Elevate

15.) Volenska

are all on the clock.

Volenska just went on the clock at 10am today.

I wasn't sure what the draft time periods were or even if they existed. I figured a bump would bring the thread back to the attention of the people who view the forums by the new posts button, like I do, rather than going through each forum.

That looks about right to me, except it looks like the 24 hour period started at around 1:30 pm for Vonlenska. So pape06 will be up either after Vonlenska makes his pick, or at 1:30 pm tomorrow.

Was downtown all day yesterday & had work today, so I didn't have time to send PM's about who's up.
