Sons of Anarchy

Recommended Posts

Not the prequel we've heard about. This would be a spinoff focusing on the Myans.

'Sons of Anarchy' spin-off in the works at FX | EW.com

Details about the project are scarce. In fact, we only know one thing for certain about the proposed storyline: The project focuses on the Mayans — the Oakland-based Hispanic MC gang that had quite a rocky history with SAMCRO across seven seasons. In the original series, the Mayans run heroin factories and are also involved in prostitution. Their cuts bear the legend “Los Asesinos de Dios” — Assassins of God.

.. The chase scene in Bullit contained no music.

HaHa - didn't see this until it got bumped today, but I have to take issue with it. Yates overdubbed the Mustang with a test track tape of a V12 Ferrari. That *is* definitely MUSIC.

If you have not heard the exhaust note of the new Mustang GTR it is something totally new. 8900 rpm redline. Sounds European.

‘Sons of Anarchy’ Spinoff ‘Mayans MC’ Officially in Script Development at FX

Quote

FX Networks has officially begun script development on long-rumored “Sons of Anarchy” spinoff“Mayans MC,” a drama project co-created and produced by “Sons” creator Kurt Sutter and Elgin James. James will pen the pilot script, which is intended to be a “dark, visceral family drama that takes a new look at the most American of icons, the 1% outlaw, this time reflected through a Latino lens.”

“I wanted to find a strong, unique Latino voice,” said Sutter of James, “Because I didn’t think a white guy from Jersey should be writing about Latin culture and traditions. Elgin is that voice.”

The Mayans were pivotal recurring players on “Sons of Anarchy,” which ran for seven seasons and stands as the highest-rated drama series in FX Networks’ history. Sutter has a long history with the network, having began his television career as a staff writer on FX drama “The Shield,” eventually rising to the position of executive producer. Following the conclusion of “Sons,” he also created the shortlived FX period drama “The ******* Executioner.”

I'll definitely check it out

Not me. The way that show turned into a soap opera on motorcycles makes me think they'll just recycle the same ideas.

Now if this were Netflix getting involved then I'd be fully on board.

The ending and final season had some issues, but overall I enjoyed the series.  Definitely will check out the Mayan spinoff.

Yah, it certainly wasn't all perfect, but it was still one of the better things on TV at the time IMO.

The season before they went to Scotland or Ireland or whatever was pretty good but it took a very heavy downhill turn once they did that. I'd tune in occasionally and thought I was watching Days of Our Lives.

I still think The Shield was better than SoA.

I'd second that.

Very excited for Mayans.  I was obviously very into Sons, but the co-creator with Kurt Sutter on Mayans, Elign James, is someone I was "friends" with him tangentially back in my music days.  I'm very interested in seeing how he does with this spin-off franchise and hope he can keep Sutter's bad habits in check.  It is still crazy to me to see his name attached to this project.
