Peavy to the Sox

Recommended Posts

Peavy won't be effective. He's going to return far too late to make an impact - IF he can be ready by late August.

Not worried one bit.

Hopefully the Tigers can create some space and make Peavy irrelevant when he comes back.

This is probably what is going to happen

That's a good point also. They lose Richard from the rotation which hurts them for the next month until Peavy is healthy enough to pitch.

Once he is healthy, they probably have a comparable rotation to the Tigers.

Beurhle

Peavy

Danks

Floyd

Contreras

Not bad at all.

Hopefully the Tigers can create some space and make Peavy irrelevant when he comes back.

Congratulations on your 11,000th post. Weird, I just looked at that for some reason.

They pay him a TON next few years, he is signed through 2013. Kind of interesting, he'll be making more than Buerhle by a longshot.

e is signed through 2012 with a $22 million dollar option for 2013 with a $4 million buyout. His salary for the next 3 seasons is $15, $16,and $17 million per.

Heard on The Mighty 1090 in San Diego where I live. Peavy's agent Barry Axelrod was on the phone and he confirmed the trade - and Peavy's approval. He said he did not know how the trade went down being that Peavy is on the DL, but said he left that to KT (Kevin Towers) and Kenny Williams.

Wasn't Richard supposed to start tonight for the Sox? Any reports on who takes his turn on short notice?

What a catch 22 trade for the Sox.

They trade their top 3 left handers in the system out of 6 quality prospects for a top MLB pitcher. Their starting rotation is pretty much signed through 2012 too.

not to worried look at peavy splits, on the road he has a 3.73 ERA in the past 3 years it always helps pitching at petco. White Soxs seem to give way to much for what they are getting in return plus the guy is hurt for the next month or more!

Sox are heavy contenders now with that formidable rotation and having guys like Getz, Ramirez and Beckham for some time.

Poo. I like Peavy. Now I have to hate his guts?

My first thought, exactly... :hurt::cry:

Still, a lot of their offense comes from Thome, Dye, Konerko, Pierzynski, and to a lesser extent Podsednik - all on the other side of 32. They could conceivably end up similar to the Tigers' performance this season - with the offense just sputtering, wasting excellent performances by the starters.

Beckham, Ramirez, Getz, Quentin all young all good..

Wouldn't that still make the Sox contenders for the division though since that's what the Tigers are this year?

Quentin is a huge injury risk and Getz isnt that good.

Wow a little harsh on a rookie aren't you? He's putting up numbers close to Polanco and for years the fans loved Placido.

Getz and Ramirez both aren't that good and Quentin has looked like pure **** since he's returned from injury.

Also, Peavy is so overrated. Road ERA this year: 4.60, road ERA last year: 4.28, and this is in the NL west, where not only does he get to face pitchers, but he pitches against some offenses that are routinely the worst in the majors.

are you joking? Polanco is in a down year and has hit .300+ in multiple season, Getz has never done that. So comparing them to each other because they both are hitting .260ish this season is rather comical, I sure hope that was sarcasm.
