I know its just summer league. But its nice to see those guys playing well instead of stinkin the place up.

Wow...Jerekbo had 12 rebounds and Daye shot 10 free throws. Those are very good signs. I think Jerekbo should be our backup power foward next year.

I wish I had shelled out money to watch the games. Does anyone know if Summers is succeeding more at the 3 or 4?

I would say 4..because he and daye never leave the floor..so I imagine Daye is playing the 3...the Knicks were horrible..I mean truly horrible.

Wish they would have kept this guy, then they could have drafted 4 projected 1st rounders.

Chase Budinger bounced back from a shaky first game to drop in 25 points on 9-for-10 shooting.

Let's not jump the gun here.....we're talking about Summer League games here. If he starts doing that consistently in regular season games, against the real NBA teams/talent, then I'd be shaking my fist for getting rid of him.

The 4. Washington is playing the 2, Daye is at the 3 and the Swede is playing the 4 and 5.

It seems like Summers and Daye actually might complement each other very well at the two foward spots. I am liking these two guys more and more. Hopefully, it is not just a summer league fluke.

What are the odds Singletary or Pargo make it on the roster as the #3 PG? It seems like we should still have a handful of open roster spots.

With Bynum and Stuckey being so young, I thought maybe they would go with a more veteran 3rd PG.

Haha, Bramos is younger, but graduated from the same High School I did. In High School, he was clearly the best player on the team, but I had no idea he would even come close to getting a shot in the NBA. It'd be crazy to see a kid playing in the NBA who grew up a few blocks away.

Ditto. Pargo impressed me the most, and he was pretty good in college.

Nice to see that Plaisted was a wasted pick last year as well. 2008 was not Joe's year

What year was Joe's year..that being said..2nd round big men..the hit ratio is pretty low, but Joe's career hit ratio in any round is pretty low.

To be fair, most late second round picks on big men do not pan out. For every Mehmet Okur there are 3 dozen Trent Plaisted's.

Edit: sportz basically just said the same thing. oh well.

Summers/Daye make ESPN's top 10, another draftee Budinger made honorable mention.

PistonsTalk.com: - ESPN Insider ranks top 10 rookies in summer league

7. DaJuan Summers, Pistons

He is sneaky good and played intelligently all week. He was outstanding

in three of his four games in Vegas, where he wasn't focused just on

scoring.

8. Austin Daye, Pistons

It's fair to suggest that Joe Dumars had an excellent draft. Daye is

talented, as everyone knew, but he's also tougher than he looks. His

biggest problem -- turnovers -- is mostly a result of his lack of

strength. But when he gets bigger, watch out.

I was watching the game the other day in a small window, and thought Bynum was playing. This Pargo guy is like a bigger, just as athletic version of Bynum. I was expecting Pargo to look like his brother, but they don't even look related, I think they should keep him on, he's got enough athletic gifts to make it in the league.

Funny you mention that. One of his pre-draft profiles for him compared him to Bynum.

Looked like the same guy in the little window when I couldn't read the Name. Built strong, lightning fast, crazy dribbling and aggressive finish attempts at the rim.

Pargo's big problem in college was times when he would make bad decisions with the ball - this was a periodic thing. Most of the time he was solid. He is strong as an ox, fast and quick, and jumps very well. I have wondered if he might do better in the NBA than college as he wouldn't have to be "the man" so much - at times when he tried to take over that is when he would make mistakes. Not always but his errors seemed to be clustered in those situations. When he took over and didn't make errors he was very tough.

HOOPSWORLD

I know I know, its only summer league. But HoopsWorld put Summers on their first team. Daye made honorable mention.

SF: DaJuan Summers (Detroit Pistons) – There were a lot of good players in the small forward category, but from the first game to the last game DaJuan Summers was exceptional. He was aggressive with the basketball, effective in scoring, played great defense and really did not look like a second-round pick at all. He had an exceptional summer.

Lets hope we don't end up regretting the Budinger trade. He made second team.

SF: Chase Budinger (Houston Rockets) – Chase Budinger was phenomenal in virtually every game. He was far more athletic than expected, and he was a killer on offense. Budinger really looked good in the NBA game, and while not nearly the athlete others were he was clearly better than advertised and one of the most consistent players this summer.

The Rockets threw oodles of money at the Pistons for the rights to Budinger, so, assuming that the financial cushion helps facilitate some future trade I don't think we can ever really say it is/was regrettable. Of course, the Pistons sure could use a shooter what with all these "playmakers."

Let's also consider that Houston made this deal prior to the Budinger selction and instructed the Pistons to make that choice. Dumars, if he kept the pick may have selected a different player.

Does Walter Sharpe have a brother?
