ESPN's off season overview

Recommended Posts

ESPN has posted their off season overview for the Lions. You can read the full story here:

Pretty much on target I think. A few nitpick things (Such as: "Losing their best receiver, Germane Crowell, for much of the 2001 season..." Crowell our best receiver?!? since when?) but pretty much on target I think.

Germane Crowell has been the best receiver for the Lions since he was drafted. He's much more of a threat than Moore/Morton, and if he's healthy, will be a top 10 receiver in the NFL. He has the same kind of talent as Terrell Owens, and thats saying alot.

I gotta disagree with you on your opinion of Crowell. He's good promise, and he's certainly got speed. But he doesn't have Owens size or presense, and he certainly doesn't have Owens hands.

Now, there's a bit of a Chicken and Egg here I'm sure. Had it been Crowell on the 49ers for the last couple of years and Owens on the Lions, I'm sure Crowell would look much better as a reciever, and Owens, while still good, may not have been considered all that good.

That said, I still think that Crowell isn't the reciever that Owens is, nor can he be. He's got to hold onto more balls, and he's got to stay healthy.

I said he's got the "same kind of talent"; I didn't say he was better than Terrell. But I'm sure his teammates (and his coaches) would rather have Germane. Germane will look much better with Harrington, guaranteed.
