If it is between Gooden and Davis, I take Davis.

RealGM: Basketball Wiretap Archives: Atlanta Officially Inks Bibby, Pachulia

Atlanta Officially Inks Bibby, Pachulia

The Atlanta Hawks have signed unrestricted free agents Mike Bibby and Zaza Pachulia to new contracts, according to Executive Vice President/General Manager Rick Sund. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed. “We are very pleased to keep Mike as part of our team,” Sund said. “His consistent production and leadership over the last year-and-a-half have been major components to the team’s success. In all of our postseason meetings and discussions, Coach Woodson stressed the importance of keeping him on board. Mike’s own desire to return to our team speaks to the confidence he has in the direction of the franchise, and in his teammates and coaches.”

I wanted the Pistons to take a shot at Pachulia.

Frye Reaches Two-Year Deal With Phoenix

The Phoenix Suns reached a contract agreement with free-agent center Channing Frye on Monday. Frye agreed to a two-year contract with the second year at his option. He will earn about $2 million next season.

The team scheduled a news conference Tuesday.

Frye told the Oregonian of his agreement with the Suns last week.

Orlando Matches Mavs' Offer To Gortat

The Orlando Magic have exercised its right of first refusal and retained restricted free agent center Marcin Gortat, General Manager Otis Smith officially announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal are not disclosed. Orlando had seven days to match an offer sheet made to Gortat by Dallas on July 8. “Having quality big men is an absolute must in our league, and Marcin (Gortat) has worked very hard to fit into that category,” said Smith. “He provides tremendous depth to our frontcourt and we’re happy to bring him back.”

Jazz Would Have To Take Out Loan For Millsap's $10.3M

The Jazz have until the end of the week to match the four-year, $32 million offer sheet that Paul Millsap signed with the Portland Trail Blazers.

As a caveat with matching the contract, Utah will have to pay Millsap $10.3 million within one week.

Unlike Paul Allen, Portland's owner, the Jazz don't have that type of cash on hand and would have to take out a loan.

Suns Complete Buyout Of Ben Wallace

The Suns completed a contract buyout for Ben Wallace on Monday.

Phoenix acquired Wallace from Cleveland in the Shaquille O'Neal trade last month.

They negotiated a $10 million buyout for a contract that would have paid him $14 million in 2009-10.

Yea, well who are they going to get? Their capspace is less then 5 million, less then the MLE, can't even get Glenn Davis with that. Hopefully it's a shocker, and it's Hamilton or Prince + cap filler for big man. I'm more concerned the room was cleared to bring Drew Gooden in.

I keep seeing the Tayshaun to Portland thing coming up, maybe if they get Milsapps, they move Pryzbilla and fillers for Tayshaun, but not sure how that fits in with the salary cap clearing.

Where did you see the Tay to Portland rumors?

I've been seeing Prince to Portland for about a year, the latest was on hoopshype and realgm, probably from Portland fan, I don't know.

Saw one today, what about a 2nd round pick for Andre Blatche out of Washington, w/Haywood and McGee and being over the tax, they might want to dump him.

I don't think there is enough cap space for Big Baby.

I see Chris Wilcox in the future.

No one is going to give Odom 10m a year. He's crazy not to accept the Lakers' offer.

I believe the Pistons are going to acquire Chandler for Kwame Brown and here’s why. I’m not sure the correct amount Chandler is making, but lets assume the high end of 12.25, per espn trade machine (Hoopshype has it as 11.85). You can go over 25% in making a trade, so here is the breakdown. 25% of Chandler’s salary is 9.19 mil. Kwame Brown is at 4.1 mil, add 3.2 in cap space, then add 1.8 trade excemption from the Afflalo/Sharpe deal. Those 3 numbers add to 9.1 mil. I’m not sure if this is the case, someone tell me if this is possible

I hope you're right. That would be really nice.

I'd rather have Kwame Brown then Chandler almost straight up, but it would be 4 million expiring + cap room for 2 years at 12 million of Chandler's deal. The Pistons either need to dump a contract to them, which NO won't want to do, or NO has to sweeten the deal.

Do you guys understand how bad Chandler must be injured to have OKC rescind that trade? It's doubtful Chandler will ever be healthy again.

Can trade exceptions be used along with other players or do they have to be used independently?

No, they can't be used together for a single player.

That might very well be true but do the Pistons really have any other options? I almost feel like we have to take a shot with Chandler. Otherwise, we are going to be screwed for post defense the next two or three years minimum.

RealGM: Basketball Wiretap Archives: Heat Want Both Boozer And Odom

Heat Want Both Boozer And Odom

The Miami Heat are targeting both Carlos Boozer and Lamar Odom.

The Heat are trying to sell Odom on a five-year, $34 million contract at the mid-level exception, and a league executive with knowledge of the talks says Miami has also hatched a three-way proposal with the Utah Jazz and Memphis Grizzlies to secure Boozer.

Miami could pay Boozer his $12.7 million salary this season and own his Bird rights to sign him to an extension next summer.

The deal for Boozer is not imminent, but Utah will be motivated to trade him assuming they match Portland's offer for Paul Millsap, as expected.
