Don Felder.

Huh, that was the only Don I could think of. Never knew he was a 1275 man. But then I guess I don't know much about him in general as maybe I should.

Hotel California live in the late 70s. It’s on YouTube and worth your time.

You have an opportunity to own any guitar amp in the world (not personally owned by anyone famous) and pedal for free, and you can only play that amp and pedal for the rest of your life. What is it?

You can buy any cab and extra pedals but those aren't included in this.

Mesa Boogie Mark III

Really? I think that's supposed to be the worst of the mark series but I've never actually played one. But it's still a boogie and probably an awesome amp.

I've never been a boogie guy really. I love a good clean tone and they've just never figured that out for some reason. I think I'd have to stick with something like the JCM800 with a tubescreamer. Good clean tone and lots of versatility. May be a bit dated but if I'm just playing by myself I'm not too worried about it.

A Twin and a Boss delay.

A twin is for sure my go-to for anything clean. Good call.

I'm not a clean player so I never really messed with it. All I know is that it was loud and when those tubes started being challenged it had a very raw and sweet sound.

That said, you can't go wrong with JCM800 or the twin. Heck, throw in an AC30 for good measure.

As an aside, I've been recording an album over the last few months and I just finished a track today and it is as good as it's going to get. I have not yet had someone with good ears mix and master it yet so this is a very raw version.

I hope you like it. If not, remember if you have nothing nice to say....wait, who am I kidding? :)

Word.

Dude, that was pretty sick. Great tone. What are you playing and recording with? I'm a sucker for those sizzl'y highs. Not down with the modern "dark" sound that a lot of guys use, it just sounds muddy to me. This was really clear. Not something that even really needs much tinkering at all. And a much funkier groove than I was expecting. Can't wait to hear the rest.

All of the rhythm and the brighter leads were recorded using a Vox Amplug Metal. Yes, a headphone amp. Isn't that sick? The leads recorded using the wah pedal were via a Line 6 500HD pod. I tried using my amps and just got so much better tone using that little headphone amp. It's just crazy.

The guitar is a 1979 Greco 3-pick up Les Paul tuned down a full step for everything on that song.

It's stupid how far amp modeling has come. To think you can record that quality with a $30 "amp". 15 years ago you had to spend a couple grand on a good interface, mics, cables, etc (Plus the amp/cab itself) and the tone would be nowhere near that good. Add what you get from youtube, etc. and you have a completely different world. To be a kid starting out today. Must be nice.

Seriously. What i like best is during the breaks when I run the note down the fretboard, you can can hear my finger  bump over every fret. It's the like guitar is right in your ear. I couldn't get that from my amps direct or mic'd.

This project is currently underway. Transforming a Gibson Explorer in a Hetfield replica MX-250. But the guy helping me is leaving town for a month so it'll be a bit. I have a couple surprise tweaks I'm going to make including something I'm painting on the front and an inlay at the 12th.

In addition, the Lew Paul has been tweaked a bit. The neck has been stained a bit darker, switched out the pick guard and toggle cover, and replaced the pickups, JB in the bridge, jazz in the neck. She sounds pretty great.

Picked up one of these guys because my Martin 12 string has a bridge that is trying to give up the ghost. Plays like an electric and has a boatload of sonic options. I think I need to check out the Line 6 electrics because the neck on this thing is really comfortable (very similar to a PRS).
